  4.      Direct mail-merge is implemented for Impression, including
  5. Publisher (v4.01 onwards) and Style (v3.03 onwards), and two sample
  6. files are provided on the disc.  With other word-processors use CSV
  7. files to transfer data.  An example CSV file and its use in Ovation
  8. are on the disc.  CSV files are useful to transfer data to text
  9. editors (ie Edit and StrongEd) which do not support mail-merge.
  10.      Updates are supplied as needed rather than on a regular basis. 
  11. If you encounter any problems or need an additional facility, please
  12. send a disc with the program and database that you are using and give
  13. as much information as possible about how and under what circumstances
  14. the program misbehaves.  If you have an unusual system (eg colour
  15. card) please let us know.  Limited telephone support is available most
  16. evenings. 
  17.      New users of Powerbase do unexpected things, and reach parts of
  18. the code the programmers don’t normally use.  Because of the feedback
  19. we have received, minor upgrades have been appearing almost daily,
  20. amounting to a major upgrade about every six months.   Also, some nice
  21. people have sent us small (like !Friends and !Boxes) sample databases,
  22. and we would be pleased to receive more, or user functions or
  23. Powerbase-specific utilities for distribution in the public domain. 
  24. Just send us a formatted disc (E format or HD) or four first class
  25. stamps to receive the latest version of Powerbase (and if you would
  26. like any extras, please tell us which ones you already have).
  27.      Powerbase users should be aware that the use of a database to
  28. store personal details other than those of immediate family members
  29. may render them liable for registration/compliance with the provisions
  30. of the Data Protection Act. 
  31.      The programmers have Powerbase in regular use on an A3000 with
  32. RISC OS 3.1 and  A5000s with RISC OS 3.0 and 3.11.  RISC OS 2
  33. compatibility will be maintained as long as possible, but a RISC OS 3
  34. -only version is under development.  The users who have RiscPCs have
  35. not yet reported any difficulties.
