  16. A) Properties of the Drivers
  17. ============================
  18. The driver support the following resolutions:

  28. B) Installing the OS/2 Drivers
  29. ==============================
  30.  
  31. The installation procedure assumes that the V7-STORM PRO is already 
  32. installed in your system.
  33.  
  34. Similarly, OS/2 2.1 must already be installed on your hard disk. The drivers 
  35. in this release are written to run only with  OS/2 2.1x, and not with any 
  36. previous version of this operating system.
  37.  
  38. Finally, make sure that OS/2 is loaded with the standard VGA drivers and set 
  39. to use the standard VGA resolution (640x480). In other words, make sure that 
  40. you can bring up OS/2 in VGA mode using the V7-STORM PRO.
  41.  
  42. The OS/2 drivers installation program installs both the OS/2 drivers and the 
  43. Windows drivers to run Seamless or Full Screen Windows. Do not perform a 
  44. separate installation of the Windows drivers as described in the Windows 
  45. drivers release notes. To do so can cause problems; for example, Seamless 
  46. Windows support may no longer work, and the version of Full Screen Windows 
  47. drivers installed may not be compatible with Full Screen WIN-OS/2.
  48.  
  49. Driver installation is initiated by running the INSTALL.CMD batch file from 
  50. the distribution diskette. This batch file copies installation files to the 
  51. OS/2 installation directory and executes the OS/2 DSPINSTL program from the 
  52. hard drive. 
  53.  
  54. To install the V7-STORM PRO OS/2 drivers on your system:
  55.  
  56. 1. (Only when drivers are downloaded from mailbox)
  57.    Extract the files to an 1.44MB floppy and label this disk 
  58.    "P91DRV 1".
  59.  
  60. 2.  Bring up OS/2 as you would normally (with the VGA driver installed).
  61.  
  62. 3.  Make sure you have closed any Windows Full Screen session and any 
  63.     Seamless Windows session.
  64.  
  65. 4.  Insert the V7-STORM PRO OS/2 distribution diskette into either drive A: 
  66.     or drive B:.
  67.  
  68. 5.  Select either an OS/2 Window or OS/2 Full Screen session from the 
  69.     command prompts folder.
  70.  
  71. 6.  Select the diskette drive you are using by typing either A: or B: and 
  72.     [Enter] .
  73.  
  74. 7.  To start the installation, type
  75.  
  76.     install bootdrive:
  77.  
  78.     where:
  79.  
  80.     bootdrive is the disk drive designator for the drive on which OS/2 is 
  81.     installed. For example, if OS/2 is installed on drive C:, then you would 
  82.     enter the command:
  83.  
  84.     install C:
  85.  
  86. 8.  In the Display Driver Install dialog box, select
  87.  
  88.     Primary Display
  89.  
  90.     and click on the OK button.
  91.  
  92. 9.  In the Display Adapter Type dialog box, select
  93.  
  94.     Power 9100 Display Driver
  95.  
  96.     and click on the OK button.
  97.  
  98. 10.  In the Source Directory dialog box, ensure that the drive indicated is 
  99.     the drive the installation diskette is in. Change it if necessary. Click 
  100.     on the Install button.
  101.  
  102.     The installation utility copies files into the appropriate directories 
  103.     and modifies the CONFIG.SYS, SYSTEM.INI, and OS2.INI files.
  104.  
  105. 11. When the files have been copied, the Power 9100 Configuration Utility 
  106.     dialog box will be displayed.  You can then select the specific driver 
  107.     configuration that you would like to run. Either: 
  108.  
  109.     a. Make selections in the Monitor, Color Depth, Resolution, Refresh 
  110.        Rate and Resource Size list boxes; after specifying the desired 
  111.        configuration, click on the Save button, or
  112.  
  113.     b. Select the default (640x480 8 bits per pixel) by clicking on the 
  114.        Cancel button.
  115.  
  116.     The Power 9100 Configuration Utility saves the configuration information 
  117.     in the OS2.INI file.  It also creates a Weitek Display Driver Utilities 
  118.     folder on the OS/2 desktop.  This folder contains utilities for 
  119.     configuring the Power 9100 OS/2 display driver as well as the Power 9100 
  120.     Full Screen WIN-OS/2 display driver.

  122.     The Full Screen WIN-OS/2 drivers are installed using the default 
  123.     configuration of 640x480 8-bits-per-pixel configuration.  Upon 
  124.     restarting OS/2 you may change this configuration by running the 
  125.     Power 9100 Full Screen Windows display driver configuration utility 
  126.     from the Weitek Display Driver Utilities folder.

  128. 12. The Display Driver Install dialog box informs you that changes have 
  129.     been made to your system configuration and you must shut down your 
  130.     system. 
  131.     Click on the OK button.
  132.  
  133. 13. Exit the OS/2 or Full Screen command prompt by typing:
  134.  
  135.     exit [Enter]
  136.  
  137. 14. Remove the distribution diskette from the diskette drive.
  138.  
  139. 15. Shut down the system by selecting Shut Down from the OS/2 desktop menu.
  140.  
  141. 16. Press Ctrl/Alt/Del.
  142.  
  143. 17. Restart OS/2. The selected driver configuration is now installed and 
  144.     running.
  145.  
  146.  
  147. C) Known Bugs, Notes, and Limitations
  148. =====================================
  149.  
  150. 1.  The distribution diskette includes a volume label, "P91DRV 1". The 
  151.     drivers will not install correctly if the volume label is not present. 
  152.     If you need to duplicate the distribution diskette, you must do so 
  153.     based on the terms of the license agreement. The diskcopy command will 
  154.     copy the volume label. To add the volume label to a diskette, use the 
  155.     label command. For example:
  156.  
  157.     label A:P91DRV 1
  158.  
  159.     (Note that the volume label includes a space character.)
  160.  
  161. 2.  Support for the secondary video adapter is not currently available. If 
  162.     the secondary adapter is selected, no files are copied and no 
  163.     configuration files are modified.
  164.  
  165. 3.  If an MS Windows application does not work properly in OS/2, you may 
  166.     need to re-install it under OS/2. Refer to your OS/2 documentation.
  167.  
  168. 4.  Note that when using a system with a previous version of OS/2 installed, 
  169.     installing a new version (or re-installing the present version) can be 
  170.     problematic. If you have difficulties installing OS/2, refer to the OS/2 
  171.     manual Using the Operating System, Appendix B, Error Messages. 
  172.  
  173. 5.  WEITEK's Full Screen WIN-OS/2 drivers require the use of 386 Enhanced 
  174.     mode. Refer to section 2.3 of these release notes or to your OS/2 
  175.     documentation to configure your system properly.
  176.  
  177. 6.  On certain boards, the palette in OS/2 full screen sessions may become
  178.     corrupt. Typing MODE CO80 at the command line prompt will correct the
  179.     problem.
