KODAK BROWSER software - Windows version provides three color palettes, two gray palettes, monochrome, and an optimum setting in which to display a photo in a photo window.
Ñ Full Color displays images in full RGB color (24-bit color).
Ñ 256 Colors displays images using a color palette of 256 colors (8-bit color).
Ñ 16 Colors displays images using a color palette of 16 colors (4-bit color).
Ñ 256 Shades of Gray displays images using a color palette of 256 evenly stepped shades of gray
(8-bit gray scale).
Ñ 16 Shades of Gray displays images using a color palette of 16 evenly stepped shades of gray
(4-bit gray scale).
Ñ Monochrome displays images as black and white.
Ñ Optimum Colors uses a palette that best displays the selected image.
The Save Object As dialog box allows you to select a directory, to name the file, and to select a file type. Photos can be saved as BMP, GIF, PCX, PICT, TGA, TIFF, and WPG image file types, regardless of their original format.
To save a photo to your hard disk:
1. Display a photo in the photo window or select a thumbnail in the contact sheet window.
NOTE: Select the image file type and the resolution in which you want the photo to be saved before displaying the photo in the photo window.
2. Choose Save Object As from the Objects menu.
The Save Object As dialog box appears.
3. Select the drive and directory where you want to save the photo.
4. Select one of the file types from the Save File As Type drop-down list box. File types include:
BMP MICROSOFT WINDOWS software device independent bitmap
GIF Graphics Interchange Format
PCX PC Paintbrush
PICT MACINTOSH Picture
TGA Targa File Format
TIFF Tag Image File Format
WPG WordPerfect Graphic
5. Delete the asterisk (*) in the File Name text box and enter a filename.
NOTE: Filenames can be no more than seven characters in length. KODAK BROWSER software automatically adds the filename extension based on the selected file type.
6. Click OK.
A progress indicator appears showing that the photo is being saved to your hard disk. You can import the saved photo into another application or add the photo into another catalog.
Presenting a Slide Show
KODAK BROWSER software allows you to present a slide show of content files contained in a contact sheet window or saved in a catalog. Content files can include APPLE QuickTime movies. The contact sheet window containing the thumbnails that you want to include in your slide show must be the active window in order to present a slide show.
NOTE: If you have saved a catalog containing Photo CD images, you must have the original Photo CD disc in the CD-ROM drive if you want to use a resolution higher than thumbnail size for your slide show.
Set Slide Show
You use the Set Slide Show command from the Display menu (CTRL+L for the Windows version) to select the timing of the slide show, to choose a sound file to accompany it, and to determine how the thumbnails appear on the screen.
To set the slide show:
1. Choose Set Slide Show from the Display menu (CTRL+L for the Windows version).
The Set Slide Show dialog box appears.
2. Select one of the following from the Timing section:
Wait for a Click -- Thumbnails remain on the screen until you click the mouse button to advance to the next thumbnail. By default, KODAK BROWSER software activates this feature.
NOTE: In the Macintosh version, if you want the sound of a slide projector as you click the mouse button, choose Preferences from the File menu, and select Sound/On.
Timer -- Click to have the thumbnails automatically display on the screen after the designated time interval. If you are using higher resolution images in the slide show, KODAK BROWSER software may take slightly longer to load the image than the interval you have selected.
Seconds -- Enter the number of seconds you want to elapse before the next thumbnail displays on the screen. The default is 10 seconds. This feature applies only if you select Timer from the Timing section.
3. Select the following from the Option section. You can select either Loop Mode or Random Overlay. You can select both Fit in Window and Show Menu Bar.
Loop Mode -- Thumbnails continuously display one after the other during the slide show. By default, KODAK BROWSER software activates this checkbox.
Random Overlay -- Click to have all the thumbnails randomly display and remain on the screen as each new thumbnail appears.
Fit in Window -- Thumbnails display to fit the monitor screen. The default size is 256 pixels by 384 pixels. To change the display size, choose Set PCD Resolution from the Objects menu and select a new resolution.
Show Menu Bar (Macintosh Version only) -- The KODAK BROWSER software program menu bar remains visible during the slide show by default. If you deactivate this feature, the Stop Slide Show command from the Objects menu is not available. You must use the keyboard shortcut Command-L or press the Escape key to stop the slide show.
4. Click the Play Sound checkbox to have a sound file accompany a slide show.
5. Click Choose Sound File.
In the Macintosh version, a directory dialog box displays. In the Windows version, the Select Sound File dialog box displays. Use the dialog box to select the sound file that you want to accompany the slide show.
6. For the Windows version, click OK to return to the Set Slide Show dialog box.
7. Click Set or Start/Start Show:
Set stores the slide show preferences so that you can use other KODAK BROWSER software features before starting the slide show.
For the Macintosh version, Start immediately begins the slide show using the thumbnails that you selected in the active contact sheet window.
For the Windows version, Start Show displays the Slide Control.
Start Slide Show
You use Start Slide Show from the Display menu (Command-L for the Macintosh version or CTRL+L for the Windows version) to begin a slide show. The contact sheet window from which you want to show thumbnails must be the active window.
To start a slide show (Macintosh Version):
1. Select the thumbnails to be included in the slide show:
Specific Thumbnails -- Hold down the mouse button (for the Macintosh version) or the SHIFT key (for the Windows version) and click each thumbnail you want to include in the slide show.
All Thumbnails -- Choose Select/Select All from the Display menu (Command-A for the Macintosh version) to select all the thumbnails in the active window.
2. Choose Start Slide Show from the Display menu (Command-L for the Macintosh version or CTRL+L for the Windows version).
The screen darkens and the thumbnails display according to the preferences selected in the Set Slide Show dialog box and in the order in which they are displayed in the contact sheet window. Reposition thumbnails in the contact sheet window by selecting one or more thumbnails and using the drag-and-drop method to reposition them in the contact sheet window.
You can stop the slide show at any time by choosing Stop Slide Show from the Display menu, by using the keyboard shortcut Command-L, or by pressing the Escape key.
To start a slide show (Windows Version):
1. Select the thumbnails to be included in the slide show:
Specific Thumbnails -- Hold down the SHIFT key and click each thumbnail you want to include in the slide show.
All Thumbnails -- Choose Select/Select All from the Display menu to select all the thumbnails in the active window.
2. Choose Start Slide Show from the Display menu (CTRL+L).
The screen darkens and the Slide Control appears.
The Slide Control provides four directional buttons that you use to start and stop the slide show and to advance or reverse the direction of the thumbnails.
Quit Stops the slide show and returns to the application window
Hide Removes the Slide Control from the slide show window
Reset Displays the first thumbnail in the slide show
Prev Reverts to the previous thumbnail
Next Starts slide show or, during slide show, advances to next thumbnail
Play Appears only when you are using the timer option
3. Click Next in the Slide Control to start the slide show if you are using the timer option.
The thumbnails display according to the preferences selected in the Set Slide Show dialog box and in the order in which they are displayed in the contact sheet window or selected for the slide show. Reposition thumbnails in the contact sheet window by selecting one or more thumbnails and using the drag-and-drop method to reposition them in the contact sheet window.
You can stop the slide show at any time by choosing Quit from the Slide Control.

License Agreement

License
1. Grant of License.╩Eastman Kodak Company (╥Kodak╙) grants you a license to use one copy of the enclosed software program(s) (the ╥Software╙) subject to the license restrictions set forth below.
2. Restrictions on Use.╩You may use the Software only on one computer at a time. For each additional computer on which the Software is running at the same time, you will need an additional licensed copy of the Software. You may copy the Software as necessary to enable you to use the Software as described above.
3. Transfer of the Software.╩You may permanently transfer the Software to another party if the other party agrees to accept the terms and conditions of this license and you retain no copies of the Software.
4. Copyright.╩The Software is owned by Kodak or its suppliers and is protected by copyright laws and international treaties. You may not copy the Software, other than as expressly provided in this license. You may not reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Software.
5. Term.╩This license is effective until terminated. You may terminate it at any time by destroying the Software, together with all copies in any form. It will also terminate if you fail to comply with any term or condition of this Agreement. You agree upon such termination to destroy the Software, together with all copies in any form.
Limited Warranty
For a period of 90 days after the date of delivery of the Software to you, as evidenced by a copy of your purchase receipt, Kodak warrants (i) the Software will perform substantially in accordance with the accompanying written materials, and (ii) the media on which the Software is furnished will be free from defects in materials and workmanship under normal use.
Kodak does not warrant that the functions contained in the Software will meet your requirements or that the operation of the Software will be uninterrupted or error free. You assume responsibility for operation of the Software to achieve your intended results, and for the installation, use, and results obtained from the Software.
Subject to any applicable legislation which prohibits the following exclusions, KODAK MAKES NO OTHER WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. Some states and countries, including Australia, do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties, or have legislation that imposes certain statutory warranties that cannot be excluded, so the above exclusion may not apply to you. Limitations of Remedies
Subject to any applicable legislation which prohibits the following limitations, Kodak╒s entire liability and your exclusive remedy shall be, at Kodak╒s option, either (a) the repair or replacement of the Software or any media not meeting Kodak╒s ╥Limited Warranty╙ that is returned to Kodak or to your dealer with a copy of your receipt, or (b) the return of the price you paid for the Software, provided you have proof of the purchase price you paid. These remedies are not available if failure of the Software or media is the result of misuse, abuse, or a failure to follow the operating instructions in the accompanying written materials.
IN NO EVENT WILL KODAK OR ITS SUPPLIERS OR DEALERS BE LIABLE TO YOU FOR ANY INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, INCLUDING ANY LOST PROFITS, LOST SAVINGS, OR OTHER DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF THE USE OR INABILITY TO USE THE SOFTWARE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. Some states and countries do not allow the limitation or exclusion of liability for incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitation may not apply to you.
General
If the Software was purchased in the United States, this Agreement is governed by the laws of the State of New York. If purchased outside the United States, this Agreement is governed by the laws of the country in which it was purchased.
