- └──────────────────────────────┘
-
- There are four options to start GEnie LIVEWIRE.
-
- 1. If your system has NO sound card, type LW1 at the DOS prompt and press
- enter.
- 2. If you have a standard Sound Blaster 1.5/2.0 compatible card, type
- LW2 at the DOS prompt and press enter.
- 3. For those with Sound Blaster Pro 2.0, SB16 or SB Pro 2 MCV, or compatible
- cards, type LW3 at the DOS prompt and press enter.
- 4. See below if you want to run LiveWire from within MS Windows.
-
- The batch files will load the applicable DOS sound blaster drivers (CT-VOICE,
- CTVDSK, SBMIDI, SBFMDRV) where appropriate and start this issue of LIVEWIRE.
- Upon exiting LIVEWIRE, sound drivers (if loaded) will be removed.
-
- For those without a sound card, we have included music files that will play
- through your PC speaker. These PC speaker files will not play if you have
- installed the Sound Blaster drivers.

- in 16 colors is required.
-
- Memory Requirements: A minimum of 475K available conventional DOS memory is
- required to view GEnie LIVEWIRE. To be able to view the animation effects in

-
- Sound Card Information: The sound driver installation assumes you have set
- the sound drive/path information. This is normally done in your autoexec.bat
- file with command lines that looks like this: (The numbers on your system may
- be different depending on configuration)
-
- SET BLASTER A220 D1 I5 T4
- SET SOUND=[drive:\path]
-
- You may also issue thess commands from the DOS command line. This tells the
- batch file where the appropriate drivers are located.

-
- If you are using MS Windows to view LIVEWIRE, the sound may be very slow
- depending on your configuration. You have two choices in this event. Leave
- Windows and run from the DOS prompt or remove the sound drivers.
-
- If you wish to view LiveWire from within Windows, you MUST store all the
- files for this issue in a directory named LW0194. Then use Windows' Program
- Manager to set it up; consult your Windows Manual if you have problems.
-
- 1. Run Windows and open the Group you want LiveWire to reside in.
- 2. Choose New from the File menu.
- 3. Select the Program Item option, then choose OK.
- 4. In the Program Item Properties box, choose Browse and locate the
- LW0194 directory you created. Double click on the file LIVEWIRE.PIF
- 5. Select the Run Minimized box to have LiveWire come up as an icon.
- 6. To use the special LiveWire Icon, select Change Icon and choose the
- file LIVEWIRE.ICO from within the LW0194 directory.
- 7. Click OK on the Program Item option box to close it.
- 8. If you have a Sound Blaster-compatible card, edit LIVEWIRE.PIF for the
- proper sound driver using the PIF Editor from Main. Open LIVEWIRE.PIF
- in your LW0194 directory using the File menu. Edit the first line
- (Program Filename) to call LW1.BAT, LW2.BAT or LW3.BAT (see above) for
- the proper driver. For example, C:\LW0194\LW2.BAT . Use the File menu
- to Save and Exit. (You may need to restart your system for this change
- to take effect.)
- 8. Double click on the Happy News Year LIVEWIRE icon to open the magazine.
