While at the Royal Academy of Music, London, Arwel won the MOCSA Young Welsh Singer Award, and appeared in a televised masterclass with the great operatic baritone, Sir Geraint Evans.
In 1991 he won a Welsh Arts Council Scholarship to study in the USA. In 1993 he completed a Performers' Programme at the Banff Centre for the Arts, Canada.
He is currently building a career in oratorio and opera. Performances have taken him to the Middle and Far East, as well as on a British Council tour of Russia and Latvia.
