  20.    1.  Preparing for Disaster Recovery  [Win9x only]
  21. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  22. Make sure you prepare for a disaster before it happens. Back up
  23. your data regularly and test out the Disaster Recovery feature
  24. as soon as possible. Follow the tips below to ensure a safe 
  25. recovery:

  27. . Test the Disaster Recovery feature by selectively restoring a
  28.   small amount of data to an alternate path.
  29.  
  30. . Run ScanDisk before you backup your data. This will ensure
  31.   that none of your long file names are corrupt.
  32.  
  33. . Make sure your zip/jaz disk is in the drive when you boot
  34.   up from the Recovery Diskette. This helps the utility identify
  35.   the drive type.
  36.  
  37. . When starting a complete disaster recovery, boot up with the
  38.   Recovery Tools Disk and format the drive using the '/s'
  39.   parameter. Do not use a DOS disk to format the drive.

  42.    2.  Clearing a corrupt Librarian (Error codes 8000 - 8499)
  43. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  44. If Iomega Backup starts reporting error codes between 8000 and 8499, 
  45. the Librarian has probably been damaged. To correct this delete the 
  46. following files from the tools directory:

  49.     Fileinfo.cdx
  50.     Files.dbf
  51.     Files.cdx
  52.     Files.fpt
  53.     Files.stk
  54.     Tapes.cdx
  55.     Tapes.dbf

  59.     Volumes.cdx
  60.     Volumes.stk
  61.     
  62. Iomega Backup will recreate these files the next time it runs.

  120.    4.  Disaster Recovery does not specifically handle compressed drives

  122. If you are using a drive compression utility, you must follow the steps
  123. below to recover your system.
  124.     a. Boot to the recover application
  125.     b. Perform a selective restore of the Windows system
  126.        directory, the Iomega Tools directory, and any compression
  127.        drivers you need.
  128.     c. Reboot the machine and set the drive up for compression.
  129.     d. Restore the rest of your data through Iomega Backup.

  133.    5.  Norton Utilities 3.0 conflict with Backup  
  134. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  135. If you are running Norton Utilities 3.0 with Disk Imaging on it is possible to 
  136. get an image error while performing a backup.  The error message will state 
  137. " Image: Error, An error occured updating the image data for drive "Your Iomega 
  138. Drive ". This disk is either missing, full, or damaged."

  140. To resolve this problem perform the following steps before performing a backup:
  141.  
  142.     a. Ensure you have a disk in your Iomega removable drive.
  143.     b. Go to the Start Menu, Programs, Norton Utilities, Image.
  144.     c. Click on the Run Image Now.  Note - You should have to only perform
  145.        this operation 1 time.
  146.  
  147. Never run Norton Utilities Disk Image while performing a backup as this could 
  148. cause problems.
