  8. INTRODUCTION

  11. In Microsoft Outlook 97 for Windows, if import or export text files with 
  12. dates formatted with two-digit years, some years are designated
  13. in the wrong century.
  14.  
  15. The O97dtfix.exe file contains updated versions of file that fix this
  16. problem. The O97dtfix.exe file contains the following files:
  17.  
  18.    Transmgr.dll   Updated file (130,560 bytes)
  19.    Rm.dll         Updated file (173,056 bytes)
  20.    ReadMe.txt     Information and instructions
  21.

  29. INSTALLATION

  32. To install the O97dtfix.exe file, follow these steps.
  33.  
  34. NOTE: Because there are several versions of Windows, the following steps
  35. may be different on your computer. If they are, please consult your product
  36. documentation to complete these steps.
  37.  
  38. Downloading and Expanding the O97dtfix.exe File
  39. -----------------------------------------------
  40.  
  41. 1. Click Start, point to Programs, and then click Windows Explorer.
  42.  
  43. 2. Download or copy the O97dtfix.exe file to an empty folder on your hard
  44.    disk.
  45.  
  46. 3. In Windows Explorer, double-click the O97dtfix.exe file to expand it.
  47.  
  48. The Transmgr.dll, Rm.dll and ReadMe.txt files listed in the "Introduction"
  49. section are extracted.
  50.  
  51. Renaming and Replacing the Affected Files
  52. -----------------------------------------

  54. Quit all programs so that your original Transmgr.dll and Rm.dll files 
  55. are not in use, and follow these steps to rename the file:
  56.  
  57. 1. In Windows Explorer, navigate to the folder containing your old
  58.    Transmgr.dll and Rm.dll files. By default, this is:
  59.  
  60.       C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\Convert
  61.  
  62.    If you have installed Microsoft Office in a different location, then use
  63.    that location to locate your original files. 
  64.  
  65. 2. Right-click each file, and then click Rename on the shortcut
  66.    menu.
  67.  
  68. 3. Rename the files to Transmgr.old and Rm.old and then press ENTER.
  69.  
  70. Copying the New Files into the Office Folder
  71. --------------------------------------------

  73. 1. In Windows Explorer, navigate to the folder where you expanded
  74.    O97dtfix.exe.
  75.  
  76. 2. Drag the new Transmgr.dll and Rm.dll files to the folder containing the
  77.    renamed files, Transmgr.old and Rm.old (typically C:\Program Files\
  78.    Microsoft Office\Office\Convert).
  79.  
  80. 3. In Windows Explorer, on the File menu, click Close.
  81.  
  82. 4. Click Start, and click Shut Down. Click Restart The Computer,
  83.    and then click Yes.
  84.
