  12. These instructions describe how to install the 3Com NDIS driver 
  13. for the DEC Pathworks network operating system.  These 
  14. instructions assume the DEC Pathworks for DOS/Windows 
  15. software has been installed on the hard drive from the
  16. installation diskettes or CD-ROM. Refer to the DEC manual for 
  17. installation instructions if the software has not been installed.
  18. Refer to the DEC manual for templates and options.

  21. Note:  Read the WFW.TXT file on the EtherDisk diskette if 
  22.        installing Pathworks with WFW v3.11. 
  23.  
  24.        Run the AutoLink program on the EtherDisk diskette if 
  25.        installing Pathworks with Retail NetWare or NetWare with 
  26.        ODI drivers. 
  27.  
  28. 1.  Go to the drive where the Pathworks software is installed. 
  29.  
  30. 2.  Change the directory to PCAPP.
  31.  
  32. 3.  Execute PWSETUP.
  33.  
  34. 4.  When prompted, enter the name of the directory where you want 
  35.     the software installed. The default is C:\PW. 
  36.  
  37. 5.  Choose CUSTOMIZE under the "Select A Configuration Option" 
  38.     menu.
  39.  
  40. 6.  Choose a template in the "Select a Workstation Template" 
  41.     menu.
  42.  
  43. 7.  Under the "Customize: Modify Workstation Configuration"
  44.     menu, put an X beside the Network Adapter Information 
  45.     line.
  46.  
  47. 8.  Additional menus will appear. Choose the appropriate 
  48.     options for your network environment. Refer to the DEC 
  49.     manual if there are questions regarding these menus.
  50.  
  51. 9.  Choose <Other Network Adapter> under the 
  52.     "Customize: Network Adapter Information" menu.
  53.  
  54. 10. If you are installing options other than Retail NetWare or 
  55.     NetWare with ODI drivers, complete these instructions: 
  56.  
  57.     On the "Driver File:" line, type: 
  58.     a:\mslanman.dos\drivers\ethernet\EL59X\EL59X.dos 
  59.    
  60.  
  61.     On the "PROTOCOL.INI Stub:" line, type: 
  62.     a:\mslanman.dos\drivers\ethernet\EL59X\protocol.ini 
  63.

  65. 11. Verify that (l) Ethernet is marked and select OK.
  66.  
  67. 12. Select OK under the "Customize: Network Adapter
  68.     Information" menu.
  69.  
  70. 13. Additional menus will appear. Follow the DEC instructions 
  71.     to complete the installation.

  79. DEC PATHWORKS for DOS/Windows v4.1

  83. To install DEC PATHWORKS version 4.1 on a DOS NDIS 
  84. workstation, DOS must be installed on the target workstation C:
  85. drive, or you must have a bootable DOS floppy.  Follow these 
  86. steps:
  87.  
  88. 1. Insert the PATHWORKS DOS Client Setup diskette version 4.1 
  89.    in your floppy drive.
  90.  
  91. 2. Change to that drive and execute the NETSETUP.EXE program.
  92.  
  93. 3. Follow the screens to select a transport protocol.
  94.  
  95. 4. Insert the appropriate diskettes for the selection 
  96.    you made in step 3.
  97.  
  98. 5. Select your network adapter type: 
  99.  
  100.    ETHERNET.
  101.  
  102. 6. Select the option (OTHER NDIS) adapters.
  103.  
  104. 7. When prompted for the DRIVE:\PATH\FILENAME for the NDIS 
  105.    driver, type:
  106.  
  107.     A:\MSLANMAN.DOS\DRIVERS\ETHERNET\EL59X\EL59X.DOS
  108.  
  109. 8. When prompted for the full DRIVE:\PATH of the PROTOCOL.INI
  110.    fragment, type:
  111.  
  112.     A:\MSLANMAN.DOS\DRIVERS\ETHERNET\EL59X\PROTOCOL.INI
  113.  
  114. 9. Follow the rest of the installation screens and the 
  115.    procedure for writing the KEY DISK.
  116.  
  117.    The NETSETUP program will build the PROTOCOL.INI file for 
  118.    you and modify your startup files to use the adapter you
  119.    have selected.

  123.  NOTE:  You must add the /n parameter to the line in the 
  124.     STARTNET.BAT file. That starts the network scheduler. 
  125.     For example:
