  12. These instructions describe how to install the 3Com NDIS driver 
  13. for the DEC Pathworks network operating system.  These 
  14. instructions assume the DEC Pathworks for DOS/Windows software 
  15. has been installed on the hard drive from the installation 
  16. diskettes or CD ROM. Refer to the DEC manual for installation 
  17. instructions if the software has not been installed.  Refer to 
  18. the DEC manual for templates and options.  
  19.

  21. Note:  Please read the WFW.TXT file on the EtherDisk if 
  22.        installing Pathworks with WFW  v3.11. 
  23.  
  24.        Please run AutoLink on the EtherDisk if installing
  25.        Pathworks with Retail NetWare or Netware with ODI 
  26.        drivers. 
  27.  
  28. 1.  Go to the drive where Pathworks software is installed. 
  29.  
  30. 2.  Change directory to PCAPP:
  31.  
  32. 3.  Execute PWSETUP.
  33.  
  34. 4.  Enter the directory where you want the software installed. 
  35.     The default is C:\PW. 
  36.  
  37. 5.  Choose CUSTOMIZE under the Select A Configuration Option menu.
  38.  
  39. 6.  Choose a template in the Select a Workstation Template menu.
  40.  
  41. 7.  Under the Customize: Modify Workstation Configuration menu,
  42.     put an X mark besides the Network Adapter Information line.
  43.  
  44. 8.  Additional menus will appear, choose the appropriate options
  45.     for your network environment. Refer to the DEC manual if there
  46.     are questions regarding these menus.
  47.  
  48. 9.  Choose <Other Network Adapter> under the 
  49.     Customize: Network Adapter Information menu.
  50.  
  51. 10. If installing options other than Retail NetWare or Netware
  52.     with ODI drivers: 
  53.  
  54.     Type a:\mslanman.dos\drivers\ethernet\elpc3\elpc3x.dos on 
  55.     the Driver File: line.
  56.  
  57.     Type a:\mslanman.dos\drivers\ethernet\elpc3\protocol.ini on
  58.     the PROTOCOL.INI Stub: line.
  59.  
  60.     Type a:\mslanman.dos\drivers\ethernet\3CELCM.EXE on the
  61.     Additional Files:  line.
  62.  
  63. 11. Verify that (l) Ethernet is marked and click on OK.
  64.  
  65. 12. Click on OK under the  Customize: Network Adapter 
  66.     Information menu.
  67.  
  68. 13. Additional menus will appear, follow the DEC instructions 
  69.     to complete the installation.
  70.  
  71. 14. Once the installation is complete, edit the config.sys file and 
  72.     add the following line immediately below the Card and Socket
  73.     Services line (if using card and socket services) otherwise add 
  74.     it as the first line:

  76.            DEVICE = C:\PW\3CELCM.EXE
  77.  
  78. 15. See SYSTEM.INI information below.

  80. 16. Reboot the system.

  84. DEC PATHWORKS for DOS/Windows v4.1
  85. =====================================
  86.  
  87. To install DEC PATHWORKS version 4.1 on a DOS NDIS 
  88. workstation, DOS must be installed on the target workstation C:
  89. drive, or you must have a bootable DOS floppy.  Follow these 
  90. steps:
  91.  
  92. 1. Insert the PATHWORKS DOS Client Setup diskette version 4.1 
  93.    in your floppy drive.
  94.  
  95. 2. Change to that drive and execute the NETSETUP.EXE program.
  96.  
  97. 3. Follow the screens to select a Transport Protocol.
  98.  
  99. 4. Insert the appropriate diskettes for the selection 
  100.    you made in step 3.
  101.  
  102. 5. Select your network adapter by typing ETHERNET.
  103.  
  104. 6. Select the option (OTHER NDIS) adapters.
  105.  
  106. 7. When prompted for the DRIVE:\PATH\FILENAME for the NDIS 
  107.    driver, type:
  108.  
  109.          A:\MSLANMAN.DOS\DRIVERS\ETHERNET\ELPC3\ELPC3X.DOS
  110.  
  111. 8. When prompted for the full DRIVE:\PATH of the PROTOCOL.INI
  112.    fragment, type:
  113.  
  114.          A:\ MSLANMAN.DOS\DRIVERS\ETHERNET\ELPC3\PROTOCOL.INI
  115.  
  116. 9. Follow the rest of the installation screens and the 
  117.    procedure for writing the KEY DISK.
  118.  
  119.    The NETSETUP program will build the PROTOCOL.INI file for 
  120.    you and modify your startup files to use the adapter you have
  121.    selected.
  122.  
  123. 10. Copy 3CELCM.EXE from root directory of the EtherDisk to the 
  124.     root of the hard drive.     
  125.  
  126. 11. Edit the config.sys file and add the following line 
  127.     immediately below the Card and Socket Services line 
  128.     (if using card and socket services) otherwise add it as 
  129.     the first line:
  130.  
  131.           DEVICE = C:\3CELCM.EXE
  132.  
  133.  
  134. NOTE:  You must add the /N parameter to the line in the 
  135.        STARTNET.BAT file. That starts the network scheduler.
  136.  
  137.              For example:

  144.    In order for the modem to function correctly 
  145. in MS Windows, add the following commands to your 
  146. Windows  SYSTEM.INI file under the [386Enh] category:
