  8.  To install VINES 6.0 software on a DOS NDIS 
  9.  workstation, follow these instructions.  DOS must be
  10.  installed on the target workstation C: drive, or you
  11.  must have a bootable DOS floppy.
  12.  
  13.  1.  Use the DOS MD command to create a subdirectory 
  14.      called \VINES.
  15.  
  16.  2.  Copy the contents of the VINES LAN S/W (DOS) 
  17.      Install diskette into the \VINES subdirectory.
  18.  
  19.  3.  Copy the contents of the NDIS subdirectory on 
  20.      the VINES LAN S/W (DOS) 2 of 2 diskette into the 
  21.      \VINES subdirectory.
  22.  
  23.  4.  Copy the PROTOCOL.INI fragment from the 
  24.      \MSLANMAN.DOS\DRIVERS\ETHERNET\ELPC3 
  25.      subdirectory on the EtherDisk diskette to the 
  26.      \VINES subdirectory.

  28.  5.  Copy 3CELCM.EXE and ELPC3X.DOS from the NDIS\DOS
  29.      directory of the EtherDisk to the \Vines 
  30.      subdirectory.

  32.  6.  Edit the PROTOCOL.INI file to read as follows:

  34.      [PROTOCOL MANAGER]
  35.       DRIVERNAME = PROTMAN$
  36.  
  37.      [VINES_XIF]
  38.       DRIVERNAME = NDISBAN$
  39.       BINDINGS = ELINKPC3
  40.  
  41.      [ELINKPC3]
  42.       DRIVERNAME = ELPC3$
  43.          
  44.  7.  Run the PCCONFIG.EXE program located in the 
  45.      \VINES subdirectory.
  46.  
  47.  8.  Select option 1, Network Card Settings.
  48.  
  49.  9.  Select the NDIS Ethernet option.
  50.  
  51.  10. The NDIS workstation screen appears.  Enter the 
  52.      IRQ that you selected for the EtherLink/PC Card 
  53.      adapter.  Select the IRQ using the Configuration
  54.      and Diagnostic Program.  
  55.  
  56.  11. Press F10 twice to return to the first menu.
  57.      Select option 2, Login Environment Settings.  
  58.      In the next screen select option 1, Default 
  59.      Communications Driver.  In the next screen 
  60.      scroll down to NDIS Ethernet and press enter.
  61.      Exit PCCONFIG by pressing F10 at each stage to
  62.      save the new configuration.

  64.  12. Edit the CONFIG.SYS file and add the following 
  65.      lines, substituting A: for C: for a floppy 
  66.      disk installation.

  70.      DEVICE = C:\VINES\ELPC3X.DOS

  72.  13. Add the following line to the AUTOEXEC.BAT
  73.      file.

  75.      cd \VINES
  76.      BAN
  77.      cd \
  78.  
  79.      BAN loads the NDISBAN drivers and reads the 
  80.      PCCONFIG.DB file to invoke changes made during the
  81.      PCCONFIG stage.

  86.    In order for the modem to function correctly 
  87. in MS Windows, add the following commands to your 
  88. Window's  SYSTEM.INI file under the [386Enh] category:
