Welcome to Foxit PDF Reader
Foxit PDF Reader is the only eligible alternative reader/viewer for PDF files (eBooks).
It's smaller, faster, and cleaner. And it's free.
Please read the license agreement at rd_eula.txt within this package. You MUST agree
all terms in this agreement in order to use Foxit PDF Reader legally.
You don't need to go throught lengthy installation process to start using Foxit PDF Reader,
just UNZIP the downloaded "pdfrd.zip" package into any place you want, then run PDFReader.exe.
You can set Foxit PDF Reader as your default PDF reader, so you can double click on PDF
files to open them within Foxit PDF Reader.
If you want to uninstall Foxit PDF Reader, please remove all Foxit PDF Reader files.
If you want to switch default PDF reader back to your previous reader, please run the
other reader (e.g. Adobe Reader) you have, and set it as the default reader.
Windows OS Support
==================
This version works on Windows 95/NT4/98/Me/2000/XP/2003.
For Windows 98/Me/2000 users, you can download a Windows component called GDIPLUS.DLL for
better graphic quality and transparency support. This component is available from Microsoft,
or at Foxit website (http://www.foxitsoftware.com/pdf/gdiplus.dll). You should put this
file into Windows system folder, or Foxit PDF Reader folder.
For Windows XP/2003 users: your computer is able to display files within a ZIP package,
without actually extracting them. You can execute PDF Reader directly this way. However,
if you don't extract Foxit PDF Reader into some other folder, you will have problem using
Foxit PDF Reader as default PDF reader. So we strongly suggest you to create a new folder,
and extract the ZIP file into that folder. Then run Foxit PDF Reader from the new folder.
Chinese/Japanese/Korean Character Support
=========================================
In order to correctly display Chinese/Japanese/Korean (CJK) characters, an additional
support package called FPDFCJK.BIN is needed, you can download it from Foxit website:
http://www.foxitsoftware.com/pdf/fpdfcjk.bin.
You should put this file into Foxit PDF Reader folder (with PDFReader.exe).
Foxit PDF Reader doesn't come with any fonts, even if you have the CJK support package.
If your system doesn't have CJK fonts, you still can not view CJK characters (unless
your document comes with embedded CJK fonts). You can download Windows language support
packages from Micrsoft website or Windows Update to install CJK fonts.
