  23. De software van Matrox PowerDesk bestaat uit een beeldschermstuurprogramma
  24. en beeldschermvoorzieningen. Met deze software kunt u alle voordelen van uw
  25. Matrox grafische hardware volledig benutten en gebruik maken van extra
  26. Matrox-functies voor beeldschermen.

  32. Als u Matrox PowerDesk wilt installeren, start u het bijgeleverde
  33. installatieprogramma en volgt u de instructies op het beeldscherm op.

  35. Het installatieprogramma installeert de software alleen als u een Matrox
  36. grafische kaart-model op uw computer hebt ge∩nstalleerd die wordt
  37. ondersteund door het installatieprogramma.

  48. Opmerkingen, problemen en beperkingen

  51. - Ondersteuning voor DirectDraw, Direct3D en DirectVideo
  52.  
  53.   Het DirectDraw-stuurprogramma dat wij leveren is compatibel met DirectX 2
  54.   (en nieuwer) en bevat ondersteuning voor Direct3D. Om ons
  55.   DirectDraw/Direct3D-stuurprogramma uit te voeren en voordeel te trekken uit
  56.   de hardware-acceleratie, MOET Microsoft DirectX 2 (of nieuwer) ge∩nstalleerd
  57.   zijn, zelfs bij programma's die oorspronkelijk voor DirectX 1 gemaakt
  58.   werden.

  60.   Als er geen recente versie van DirectX is ge∩nstalleerd, zijn bepaalde
  61.   Matrox PowerDesk-functies niet beschikbaar.

  63.   Wij leveren DirectX op de Matrox CD-ROM. De nieuwste DirectX kan van de
  64.   Microsoft website gehaald worden en is ook bijgesloten met veel
  65.   DirectX programma's.

  67.   BELANGRIJK: Als het DirectX setupprogramma u vraagt om de bestaande
  68.   beeldschermstuurprogramma's te vervangen, klik op "Nee". Anders zal het
  69.   setup-programma stuurprogramma's installeren die niet zo geoptimaliseerd z
  70.   ijn als de Matrox-stuurprogramma's en die de PowerDesk software niet
  71.   ondersteunen.

  73.   Afhankelijk van de herkomst van uw Microsoft DirectX software, kan het
  74.   mogelijk zijn dat het geen DirectVideo-ondersteuning bevat. Om sneller
  75.   terugspelen van Indeo en Cinepak AVI-bestanden te verkrijgen, moet u
  76.   Microsoft DirectVideo-ondersteuning installeren.

  78. - Matrox bus mastering
  79.  
  80.   Dit stuurprogramma ondersteunt bus mastering. Bus mastering is een optie
  81.   waarmee uitbreidingskaarten en de CVE van uw computer tegelijkertijd taken
  82.   kunnen uitvoeren. Als u een snelle Pentium-computer heeft (sneller dan
  83.   166 MHz), worden de meeste programma's beter weergegeven met bus mastering.

  85.   Als u bus mastering wilt gebruiken voor 3D-programma's (DirectX), heeft uw
  86.   videokaart een interrupt request (IRQ) nodig. De meeste computers wijzen
  87.   automatisch een IRQ toe aan videokaarten, maar niet allemaal. Wanneer aan
  88.   de videokaart geen IRQ is toegewezen, werken programma's die Matrox bus
  89.   mastering gebruiken, niet goed. Raadpleeg de handleiding van Matrox of uw
  90.   computer voor meer informatie.

  92. - DirectDraw en Automatic Power Management
  93.  
  94.   Zoals beschreven in de "Microsoft DirectX Release Notes" van
  95.   30 September 1995, kan een DirectDraw-spel mogelijk niet in staat zijn om
  96.   op de juiste manier te herstellen, als het door Automatic Power
  97.   Management-hulpprogramma's in de Slaapmodus (Standby) gesteld werd.

  99. - Installatie in anderstalige versies van Windows
  100.  
  101.   Indien u software in een andere taal installeert dan de taal van uw
  102.   besturingssysteem (bijv. Engelstalige software in een Nederlands systeem)
  103.   zult u mogeljk problemen ondervinden met tekstkaders en dialoogvensters
  104.   waarvan delen kunnen ontbreken. Dit is een gevolg van de verschillen in de
  105.   systeemlettertypen.

  109. - OpenGL support
  110.  
  111.   Note the following limitations related to the OpenGL driver included with
  112.   Matrox PowerDesk:
  113.  
  114.     - OpenGL support may not be included in some versions of Matrox PowerDesk.
  115.       For a version of Matrox PowerDesk with OpenGL support enabled, see
  116.       the Matrox Web site (www.matrox.com/mga).

  118.     - Regardless of your graphics card or display driver, Windows 98 only
  119.       supports OpenGL acceleration with the primary display of your computer.
  120.       (The "primary display" is the one that first displays information when
  121.       you restart your computer.)

  123.     - With the "Tribes" game, you may notice some minor display artifacts and
  124.       the opening video introduction may not display properly.
  125.  
  126.     - Using 3D Studio Max 2.0, you may experience problems with the viewports
  127.       being improperly redrawn. If this happens, simply click in a viewport
  128.       to properly update their display. (This problem isn't present with
  129.       version 2.5 or 3.0 of 3D Studio Max.)

  131. - DualHead Multi-Display mode under Windows 2000
  132.  
  133.   If you have a DualHead-supporting graphics card and you apply "DualHead
  134.   Multi-Display" mode under Windows 2000, Matrox PowerDesk automatically
  135.   clears the Windows check box called "Hide modes that this monitor cannot
  136.   display". (This check box is in the advanced settings of the "Display
  137.   Properties" dialog box.)

  139.   Under Windows 2000, please don't enable this check box while using
  140.   DualHead Multi-Display mode -- doing so may cause problems. When DualHead
  141.   Multi-Display mode is disabled, this option will be automatically restored
  142.   to its previous setting. For more information on DualHead Multi-Display
  143.   mode, see context-sensitive help.

  145. - 15-bit color palette support for Windows 2000
  146.  
  147.   For advanced users: By default, the 15-bit color palette is unavailable
  148.   for Windows 2000. If you need to use this color palette, you can make it
  149.   available by adding the "User.Enable15Bpp" value to your Windows registry
  150.   and then setting this value to "1". If you're adding this value, add it
  151.   under "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE" -> "SYSTEM" -> "CurrentControlSet" -> "Services"
  152.   -> "mgau" or "g200" or "g400" -> "Device0". The value type is "REG_DWORD".

  154. - "Monitor Settings" property sheet

  156.   The current Matrox display driver for Windows 2000 doesn't include the
  157.   "Monitor Settings" property sheet. (This property sheet is included with
  158.   the Matrox display driver for Windows 95/98.) This property sheet will be
  159.   included with a future Matrox display driver for Windows 2000. Matrox
  160.   software updates are available on the Web (www.matrox.com/mga).
