  11. General
  12. =======
  13. The terms and conditions of your WebFlixPro license are located in the "Program
  14. Files\MediaWare Solutions\WebFlixPro\doc folder" by default. This location will 
  15. vary depending on where you chose to install WebFlixPro. If you are running the 
  16. demo version then you have a 14 day evaluation licence and a number of 
  17. features are not available. See the Help file for details.
  18.  
  19. You will need to download and install a copy Microsoft's Microsoft 
  20. DirectX Media Run Time (was known as ActiveMovie, now renamed DirectShow) 
  21. if you have not already got it installed on your computer. 
  22.  
  23. To detect whether you have DirectShow installed on your system. Just load an
  24. M<PEG-1 movie in WebFlix Pro, and play it - if you get no warning message 
  25. and it plays OK then it's already installed.
  26.  
  27. If you find you need Microsoft DirectX Media Run Time then you can 
  28. download it (currently version 6.1) from Microsoft's web site at 
  29. http://www.microsoft.com/directx/pavilion/dshow/default.asp
  30. and following the download instructions for your operating system. 
  31.  
  32. For best results we recommend adjusting your display settings to use a 
  33. minimum of 16 bit colour (32 bit TrueColor is recommended). Using 8-bit
  34. color can cause unusual flickering/flashing color effects.

  36. Registry Operations (Only if you are comfortable with Regedt32!)

  39. - The default folder for storing your WebFlix Pro generated datafiles can be
  40.   changed through the registry. Change the value of the DATA entry
  41.   under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\MediaWare Solutions\WebFlixPro\1\ to your
  42.   preferred folder.

  45.        Limitations of the current version
  46. *************************************************************************

  48. - You cannot read or create files greater than 2Gbytes (32 bit addressing).
  49.  
  50. - WebFlix Pro automatically creates an index file for each movie you load
  51.   so that you can later randomly access any part of the movie. For large
  52.   movies, this can take a significant time. However it is only calculated
  53.   the first time you load each movie, so subsequent loads are fast.
  54.  
  55. - The index filename for a VCD (.dat) file is shared with the MPEG (.mpg)
  56.   file of the same name. This means, for example, that if you 
  57.   alternately load the VCD movie movie.dat and the MPEG movie movie.mpg 
  58.   then the index file movie.idx will be recalculated each time because 
  59.   WebFlix Pro will detect that the existing index file does not belong to 
  60.   the movie you are loading.

  62. - WebFlix Pro can work directly with many Video CD movies, playing, editing 
  63.   and using the shot tool to find shot cuts. However if you experience any
  64.   problems we recommend converting the Video CD movie to MPEG format 
  65.   first using the WebFlix Pro built-in converter and then working with the 
  66.   MPEG file.

  68. - WebFlix Pro does not generate VCD-compliant MPEG files.

  72.        Known Issues in the current version

  75. - using the shot detection tool on movies with a *very* large number of
  76.   cuts (for example when trying to cut detect an animated cartoon) or 
  77.   dissolves can cause WebFlix Pro to crash. This appears to be caused 
  78.   by running out of memory when handling the thumbnails.
  79.  
  80. - if you have already saved a cutlist for your movie using the default 
  81.   filename, it will be overwritten next time you save a cutlist for the
  82.   same movie. To avoid this problem, always change the name of the cutlist 
  83.   file from the default to your own filename before saving.

  85. - when converting a VCD file to MPEG, such as movie.dat to movie.mpg, if 
  86.   file movie.mpg exists in the same folder as movie.mpg it will be 
  87.   removed or replaced by the conversion process.
