  17. Please read this README file and all the supplied documentation 
  18. BEFORE you continue the installation.

  21. 2. Installation Notes 
  22. =================================================================
  23. We recommend that you have installed Windows NT 4.0, Service Pack
  24. 5, and are running the Standard VGA driver (640x480x16 color) 
  25. before you install the Diamond ViperII Z200 NT 4.0 drivers.
  26. If you are running a different graphics mode, please re-configure  
  27. for Standard VGA.

  30. 3. Installation Instructions
  31. =================================================================
  32. Installation from CD:
  33. -----------------------------------------------------------------
  34. Place the CDROM that you received with Diamond ViperII Z200 in  
  35. your CDROM drive X: (X: being your CDROM drive letter).
  36. If your CDROM Autostart feature is turned off, you will need to 
  37. manually go to your RUN line (Click on start/run located on your 
  38. start bar) and browse to your CD, which will guide you through 
  39. the rest of the installation.

  42. Manual Installation via .inf:
  43. -----------------------------------------------------------------
  44. 1.  Start system with Windows NT 4.0 installed.
  45. 2.  IMPORTANT: When the "Please select the operating system to  
  46.     start..." message is displayed, 
  47.     select "Windows NT Workstation Version 4.00 [VGA mode]".
  48. 3.  From "Start", select the "Settings group", then click on the
  49.     "Control Panel" icon.
  50. 4.  In the "Control Panel", double click on the "Display" icon.
  51. 5.  In the "Settings" screen, click on the "Display Type..." 
  52.     button.
  53. 6.  From the "Display Type" screen, and in the "Adapter Type" 
  54.     section, click on the "Change..." button.
  55. 7.  In the "Change Display" screen, click on the "Have Disk..." 
  56.     button.
  57. 8.  Locate the desired .inf file on your driver CD or  
  58.     elsewhere, then click on the "OK" button.
  59. 9.  From the list of displayed Diamond devices, select your 
  60.     Diamond device.
  61. 10. From "Third-party Drivers", click on the "Yes" button to 
  62.     proceed.
  63. 11. If a message appears stating the driver is already installed
  64.     on the system, and asks if you want to use the current or
  65.     new drivers, be sure to select the "New" button.
  66. 12. If prompted for the driver files' location a second time, 
  67.     click on the "Continue" button.
  68. 13. When the message "The drivers were successfully installed" is 
  69.     displayed, and the drivers were loaded from a floppy  
  70.     diskette, remove the display driver diskette, then 
  71.     click on the "OK" button.
  72. 14. Back at the "Display Type" window, click on the "Close" 
  73.     button.
  74. 15. Back at the "Display Properties" window, click on the "Close" 
  75.     button.
  76. 16. When you see the "System Settings Change" window, asking if  
  77.     you wish to restart your computer, click on the "Yes" 
  78.     window to reboot now.

  82. NOTE:  If installing Windows NT 4.0 with the Diamond device  
  83.     already installed in the system:
  84.     Proceed through the Windows NT installation as normal.  
  85.     The installation program will prompt the user to choose 
  86.     a display mode.  Choose the "Cancel" button from the 
  87.     "Display Settings" screen to ignore this step for now.  
  88.     The installation will now finish.  Once Windows NT has  
  89.     started for the first time, proceed to follow the steps  
  90.     outlined above to install the driver for your Diamond 
  91.     device.

  94. 4. Known Issues
  95. =================================================================
  96. ICT Gamma schema resets to default when color depth is changed.

  99. 5. Known Limitations
  100. =================================================================
  101. To uninstall the Windows NT drivers you will need to rerun the 
  102. ViperII Z200 Series install program and deselect the features 
  103. that were installed.
  104.  
  105. OpenGL is not hardware accelerated in this driver version.
  106.  
  107. InControl Tools (ICT)99:
  108. InControl Tools 99 shortcuts require a system reboot to take  
  109. effect when running under Windows NT.
  110. Diamond ICT99 "Internet Sites" popup requires IE3.0 or above or 
  111. Netscape Communicator 4.51 or above.
  112.  
  113. ICT will not be fully functional with COMCTRL32.DLL version
  114. 4.70 and earlier.  This may impact Windows NT platforms. The
  115. problems experienced will included :
  116.  
  117.    1) The InControl Desktop Properties will not execute.
  118.    2) The InControl Desktop Manager will not execute.
  119.  
  120.  To resolve this issue you can do one of the following:
  121.    1)  Install a later version of COMCTRL32.DLL from the Microsoft Web
  122.        Site.  It is part of a self-extracting executable (50comupd.exe)
  123.        which can be downloaded from Microsoft's webpage through the link at
  124.        http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q186/1/76.ASP 
  125.        Download the latest version, currently select the option  
  126.        "Download 50comupd.exe (x86)" 0.49 MB.
  127.    2) Install Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 or later.
