  7. DESCRIPTION: Easy to use web page authoring tutorials covering basic
  8.   and advanced web page design. The tutorials are in HTML format so
  9.   you can go through them with your web browser. If you've never
  10.   created a web page before, the basic tutorial will guide you gently
  11.   though basics of HTML. And, if you know the basics, the advanced
  12.   tutorials will show you how to add additional features to your page. 
  13.  
  14. THESE TUTORIALS ARE FREEWARE.
  15.   They are not copyrighted. You may use and/or distribute them to
  16.   your hearts content according to the guidelines below.
  17.   - If you wish to post them unaltered on your public or private
  18.     server, you can. (The package was written keeping this in mind.
  19.     All pertinent links are relative. Just unzip and upload the whole
  20.     pile to your server as-is.)
  21.   - If you wish to translate them into another language, you can.
  22.   - If you are a teacher and you want to use them for teaching
  23.     purposes, you can.
  24.   - If you want to include them on a CD with other Internet programs,
  25.     you can.
  26.   - If you are a business and you wish to offer copies of WebTutor as
  27.     a free bonus with your regular products, you may.
  28.   - If, for some lame reason, you copy them verbatim and call them
  29.     your own, I will have no choice but to tell Mom, and boy will you
  30.     be in trouble!

  32. REQUIREMENTS:
  33. 1) Windows95/98. I've abandoned the 8.3 file naming convention. Win3x
  34.    users may have some trouble. They should however be able to access
  35.    everything online though. I'm not that familiar with other
  36.    operating systems, but I'm guesing the tutorials are still plenty
  37.    useable.
  38. 2) A graphical web browser. Preferably Netscape Navigator 3.0 or
  39.    later. MS Internet Explorer 3.0 or later will do also. If you use
  40.    something other than the big two everything should still be OK.
  41.    Very old browsers might hit a few potholes though.
  42. 3) A text editor. Notepad will do nicely for now.
  43. 4) A comfortable chair and an attractive member of the opposite sex
  44.    to tell you how computer geeks are sexy and to rub your neck if it
  45.    gets stiff.

  47. INSTRUCTIONS: Unzip and start with index.html. Have fun. No files are
  48.   copied, moved, modified or otherwise scattered about your computer.
  49.   To "uninstall" these tutorials, simply delete the contents of the
  50.   webtutor directory.

  52. EMAIL: I get a lot of email asking for help on this problem or that,
  53.   and I'm afraid there isn't enough time to answer them all. I do
  54.   answer a few occasionally however, and they all at least hit my
  55.   eyes.

  93. - Added an updated barebones guide to HTML.
  94. - Sprinkled in a few FAQs.
  95. - Handy Dandy Font Viewer streamlined and doesn't kill IE any more.
  96. - Color Picker slightly improved and IE friendly.
  97. - Form Tutor contains more info regarding the notorious mailto action
  98.   along with links to CGI resources.
  99. - Added Mailto Converter to the distribution because links to mailto
  100.   formatter kept disappearing.
  101. - Dumped the JS menu in favor of a main Table of Contents. (A new,
  102.   improved and reusable SiteMap is in the works... stay tuned.)
  103. - Improved navigation through the pages.
  104. - Dumped the self-extracting exe distribution for a simple zip file.
  105.   Abandoned the idea for a "professional" installation. Why use a
  106.   hammer to kill a fly?
  107. - Numerous additions/corrections,improvements.

  109. What this 3.5 version is NOT:
  110. - It's not a tutorial based on HTML 4.0 (it loosely follows 3.2)
  111. - It doesn't get into Style Sheets
  112. - There's no mention of DHTML (Not specifically at least)
  113. - It does not concentrate on authoring documents that validate
  114.   against any published HTML recommendation.
