This database is designed so administrators can observe the activity of the Administration Process. The Administration Request documents define actions to be performed by the Administration Process. The Administration Log documents appear as responses to Administration Requests and detail the modifications made to databases by the Administration Process.
Administration Request documents cannot be explicitly composed by an administrator. Instead, some are automatically created when the administrator performs tasks in the Address book, in the Statistics and Events Configuration base, and in the Administration Request database; other are automatically created by the server. Administration Logs are created by the server's Administration Process to describe what it did in response to the Administration Request. Not every server in the domain responds to every request in the database. The server designated as the Administration Server of the Address book responds to every request; the other severs in the domain respond only to Delete and Rename in Access Control List requests.-
Types of Requests1
Delete. A Delete Administration Request document is created when the administrator deletes a person, group, or server from the Address Book. The Administration Process running on Administration Server of the Address Book removes references to this person, group, or server in Address Book documents. The Administration Process running on other servers in the domain removes references to this person, group, or server from database Access Control Lists /
Recertify Person in Address Book. A Recertify Person in Address Book Administration Request document is created when the administrator performs a Recertify Person action in the Address Book. The Administration Process running on the Administration server of the Address book adds a new Public Key to the Person document.
Recertify Server in Address Book. A Recertify Server in Address Book Administration Request document is created when the administrator performs a Recertify Server action in the Address Book. The Administration Process running on the Administration server of the Address Book adds a new Public Key to the Server document.
Move Person's Name in Hierarchy. A Move Person's Name in Hierarchy Administration Request document is created when the administrator performs a Request Move to New Certifier action in the Address Book. The Administration Process does act on this type of request. Conversely, the administrator selects this request from the Name Move Requests view of the Administration Requests database and performs a Complete move for selected entries action. If the action is successful, an Initiate Rename in Address Book Administration Request Document, for changing the person's old name to their new name, is created in the Administration Request database.e
Initiate Rename in Address Book. An Initiate Rename in Address Book Administration Request document is created when the administrator performs one of the following actions in the Address Book: Rename Person=>Change Common Name, Rename Person=>Upgrade to Hierarchical, Upgrade Server to Hierarchical. This type of document is also created when Complete move for selected entries action is performed in the Administration Requests database. The Administration Process running on the Administration Server of the Address Book adds information to the Person or Server document as a prerequisite step to changing the person or server's name in the domain's Address Book and database Access Control Lists
Rename Server in Address Book. A Rename Server in Address Book Administration Request document is created by the server when it determines that it has been upgraded from a flat certificate to a hierarchical one. The Administration Process running on the Administration Server of the Address Book changes all references to the server's flat name in the Address Book to its new hierarchical name.
Rename Person in Address Book. A Rename Person in Address Book Administration Request document is created by the server after the administrator has changed the person's common name, upgraded the person from a flat certificate to a hierarchical one, or moved the person in the hierarchical name tree and the person authenticates with the server using a id file in which their old name is listed. The Administration process running on the Administration server of the Address Book changes all references from the person's old name in the Address Book to the person's new name.
Rename in Access Control List. A Rename in Access Control List Administration Request document is created by the Administration Process running on the Administration server of the Address Book after the Process has responded to a Rename Server in Address Book or a Rename Person in Address book request. All servers running the Administration Process in the domain change references to the persons or server's old name to their new name in database Access Control Lists.
Delete Statistics Monitors in Address Book. A Delete Statistics Monitors in Address Book Administration Request document is created when the administrator presses the Remove Monitor Views from NAB button in the Statistics and Events database. The Administration process running on the Administration server of the Address Book removes the ($Thresholds), ($Events), ($ACLMonitors), ($ReplMonitors) views, and their associated documents, from the Address Book#
Copy Server's Certified Public Key. A Copy Server's Certified Public Key Administration Request document is created by a server when it determines that the key in the Certified Public Key field of its document is missing or out of date. The Administration process running on the Administration server of the Address Book copies new public key information into the Server document.-
Place Server's Notes Build Number into Server Doc. A Place Server's Notes Build Number into Server Doc Administration Request document is created by a server when it determines that the entry in the Build Number field of its document is missing or out of date. The Administration Process running on the Administration Server of the Address Book copies the new server's build number into the Server document.
Administration Log. An Administration Log document is a server's response to an Administration Request. Information in the log lists the type of request, whether it was a success or failure, its reason for failure, and the databases modified. Each Administration Log has a "Perform request again?" checkbox to designate that the Administration Process running on the server retry the request.a
Views
Most of the views in the Administration Request database are designed so the activity of the Administration Process can be viewed from different perspectives. The Name Move Requests view is unique in the lot; in this view, the administrator performs the "Complete move for selected entries" action as part of the process in moving a person in the hierarchical name tree.
The "Name Move Requests" view shows documents requesting that a person be moved in the hierarchical name tree. The administrator selects documents in this view and then chooses Actions=>Complete move for selected entries to move the person from their current position in the hierarchical name tree to their new one.
The "All Activity by Name" view organizes the Administration Log documents so the administrator can see the type of Administration Requests that have been performed on a person, group, or server.e
The "All Activity by Server" view organizes the Administration Log documents so the administrator can see the activity of the Administration Process running on a specific server.
The "All Errors by Date" view organizes the Administration Log documents so the administrator can see all errors encountered by the servers performing Administration Requests.
The "All Errors by Server" view organizes the Administration Log documents so the administrator can see the errors each server encountered performing Administration Requests.
The "All Requests by Action" view organizes the Administration Request documents so the administrator can see each request to be performed followed by the corresponding Administration Log response documents.d
The "All Requests by Server" view organizes the Administration Request documents so the administrator can see all requests to be performed by a designated server followed by the corresponding Administration Log response documents.

About Administration Requestst
The Administration Request database is the database for observing the activity of the Administration Process. It contains the Administration Request documents automatically created when certain administrative activities are performed in the Address book. It also contains the Administration Log documents, composed by a server's Administration Process, detailing the modifications made to databases when Administration Requests are processed. The audience of this database is system administrators who automatically create Administration Request documents during their work activities.T
