  1. A few things you should know about the Ripley's Believe it or Not: 
  2. Riddle of Master Lu interactive demo 
  3.  
  4.  
  5. WALKTHROUGH 
  6.   The interactive portion of this demo is a small playable portion 
  7. of the actual game.  There is a walkthrough for this portion of the 
  8. game, which will be installed in the same directory as the demo. 
  9. The file is WALKTHRU.TXT, and can be opened with any editor or 
  10. word processor. 
  11.  
  12. SCREEN SHOTS 
  13.   There are several screen shots from the game on this CD-ROM 
  14. in the \DEMOART directory.  Each image is available in Targa and GIF 
  15. format. 
  16.

  18. 8 MEG MACHINES USING SMARTDRV (or other disk cache program) 
  19.   If you use SmartDrive and have not told it how much 
  20. memory to use, it will default to using 2 megabytes, which  
  21. will not leave enough memory to run the demo on an 8 meg machine. 
  22. To solve this, tell SmartDrive not to use more than 256K of memory 
  23. by editing your AUTOEXEC.BAT file and changing the line which loads 
  24. SmartDrive to read:

  26. c:\dos\smartdrv.exe 256 
  27.  
  28. If you use a different disk cache program you will need to look up 
  29. the 'size' parameter in that program's documentation. 
  30.  
  31.  
  32. AUTODETECTING SOUND CARDS 
  33.   Once you have told INSTALL what sound card(s) you have, it will  
  34. automatically detect their settings. On rare occasions, the  
  35. autodetection routines may freeze up or reboot your computer.   
  36. If you experience this problem, run INSTALL with the -n parameter: 
  37.  
  38. INSTALL -n [ENTER] 
  39.  
  40.   This will disable autodetection. You will need to enter your sound  
  41. card's settings manually (INSTALL provides menu options for this). 
  42.  
  43.  
  44. ADLIB MSC16 SOUND CARDS 
  45.   If you have this sound card, you will need to select "Sound Blaster 8" 
  46. on all of the sound card setup menus. Once you have done this, you will  
  47. need to manually set the I/O which is normally set at 220. Also, once  
  48. you have exited the game and returned to DOS, you will need to manually  
  49. reset your sound card (if you do not your computer may hang the next  
  50. time you run an application or game).  To reset your MSC16 card type: 
  51.

  54. (You can also reboot your computer to reset the sound card)

  57. REVEAL SOUNDFX WAVE 32 SOUND CARDS 
  58.   If you have this sound card, you will need to select "Ensoniq  
  59. Soundscape" for both the music and speech setup options.

  62. TANDY SENSATION 
  63.   If you are running a Tandy Sensation with Tandy Sound, you will not  
  64. be able to play this game. Sound cards supported by this product are  
  65. listed in the SOUND and SPEECH setup menus in the INSTALL.

  68. WINDOWS SOUND SYSTEM 
  69.   If you own this sound card, you may experience problems with the speech
  70. in this game. Contact your sound card manufacturer for further information.

  73. DIAMOND COMPUTER SYSTEMS INC. STEALTH 64 AND #9 COMPUTER CORPORATION
  74. GXE CARDS
  75.   The OVERVIEW selection on this demo disc will not run on the above 
  76. cards.  This short movie was constructed with software that is
  77. incompatible with these cards.  There is a chance other Diamond cards
  78. may be affected as well.
  79.   NOTE:  The software used to create the Overview was NOT USED IN THE
  80. GAME or any other part of the game demo.  THE RIDDLE OF MASTER LU game
  81. itself will RUN FINE on these cards.

  83. OLDER DIAMOND VIDEO CARDS AND #9 GXE CARDS 
  84.   If you are using one of these cards, and the demo will not display 
  85. anything, you need to run the demo by typing DEMO -SLO [ENTER]. 
  86. This will force the demo to use a different (but much slower) method 
  87. of accessing the video card, which will work with these cards. 
  88.  
  89.   NOTE:  THE RIDDLE OF MASTER LU game itself will RUN FINE on these
  90. cards.
