Blackstar - Agent of Justice
* Sound Info *
There are three sound options for the game.
1) No sound
2) PC Speaker
3) SoundBlaster card
The first two options are self-explanatory. The SoundBlaster functions needs
a bit more explanation. In order for the program to utilize your sound card,
a couple of steps need to be performed before starting the game.
First, the program will search for the BLASTER environment variable to
configure itself to your card. The BLASTER environment variable typically
is found in your AUTOEXEC.BAT file. It will look similar to this:
SET BLASTER=A220 I7 D3 T1
You will find additional information on the BLASTER environment variable
in your SoundBlaster user manual. You MUST have a statement like this in
your AUTOEXEC.BAT file in order to hear the music in the game. Once the
statement has been added to your AUTOEXEC.BAT file, remember to reboot so
it will be set properly.
Second, you need to run FM.COM before you start the game. Type FM from
the directory where you have placed the game. The program needs this
memory-resident utility to execute the music in the game properly.
If you do not execute both of these steps, you most likely will not hear
the background music during gameplay.
A compatible sound card will work as long as the BLASTER environment variable
is set in the AUTOEXEC.BAT file. The game was created on a machine with a
ProAudio Spectrum card, so I know it will work with other cards!
If you continue to have trouble with the sound card option, then please play
the game with the speaker or no sound options! The game is enjoyable with
or without sound!!!
