  14. 1. DESCRIPTION- Printit Super Print Components for Delphi 1 & 2
  15. ===============================================================
  16. Printit  are fully functional print components for Delphi. It enables
  17. you to generate quality printed output with usually less than 5 lines
  18. of code !  Now you can print Delphi forms and windows direct from the
  19. screen with minimal programming effort - support is included for printing
  20. most of the standard Delphi components. It is not a bitmap dump of the
  21. screen!
  22.  
  23. Unlike other Delphi demo shareware components,  there is no need for Delphi
  24. to run while your program (with Printit )is executing.  You must however have
  25. the Delphi Paradox Engine installed if you are using database access.
  26.  
  27. This copy of  Printit  displays a UNREGISTERED COPY OF Printit message on the
  28. screen when preparing a printout and prints a UNREGISTERED COPY OF Printit
  29. message on all printouts if not registered. If you register, you will receive
  30. an activation code that disables the nag screen and nag message printed at the
  31. bottom of each printout.

  59. 2. DEFINITION OF SHAREWARE

  62. Shareware distribution gives users a chance to try software before buying it.
  63. If you try a Shareware program and continue using it, you are expected to
  64. register. Individual programs differ on details -- some request registration
  65. while others require it, some specify a maximum trial period. With registration
  66. , you get anything from the simple right to continue using the software to an
  67. updated program with printed manual.

  69. Copyright laws apply to both Shareware and commercial software, and the
  70. copyright holder retains all rights, with a few specific exceptions as
  71. stated below. Shareware authors are accomplished programmers, just like
  72. commercial authors, and the programs are of comparable quality. (In both
  73. cases, there are good programs and bad ones!) The main difference is in
  74. the method of distribution. The author specifically grants the right to
  75. copy and distribute the software, either to all and sundry or to a specific
  76. group. For example, some authors require written permission before a commercial
  77. disk vendor may copy their Shareware.

  79. Shareware is a distribution method, not a type of software. You should find
  80. software that suits your needs and pocketbook, whether it's commercial or
  81. Shareware. The Shareware system makes fitting your needs easier, because you
  82. can try before you buy. And because the overhead is low, prices are low also.
  83. Shareware has the ultimate money-back guarantee -- if you don't use the
  84. product, you don't pay for it.

  87. 3. DISCLAIMER - AGREEMENT
  88. -------------------------

  90. Users of Printit must accept this disclaimer of warranty: "Printit is supplied
  91. as is.  The author disclaims all warranties, expressed or implied, including,
  92. without limitation, the warranties of merchantability and of fitness for any
  93. purpose. The author assumes no liability for damages, direct or consequential,
  94. which may result from the use of Printit." Printit is a "shareware product"
  95. and is provided at no charge to the user for evaluation.  Feel free to share
  96. it with your friends, but please do not give it away when registered. The
  97. essence of "user-supported" software is to provide personal computer users
  98. with quality software without high prices, and yet to provide incentive for
  99. programmers to continue to develop new products.  If you find this product
  100. useful and find that you are using Printit and continue to use Printit after
  101. a reasonable trial period, you must register it with Calitz Bros. through Kagi
  102. software or Compuserve.  This registration fee will license one copy for use
  103. on any one computer at any one time. The registration and the activation code
  104. will be valid for future minor upgrades,  bug fixes and enhancements to
  105. Printit Version 5.x.   When we have received your payment,  we will e-mail,
  106. fax or post your activation code to you. You must treat this software just
  107. like a book.  An example is that this software may be used by any number of
  108. people and may be freely moved from one computer location to another, so long
  109. as there is no possibility of it being used at one location while it's being
  110. used at another. Just as a book cannot be read by two different persons at
  111. the same time. Programs developed by using the Printit components may be
  112. distributed without any additional royalties.

  114. Commercial users of Printit must register and pay for their copies of Printit
  115. within 30 days of first use or their license is withdrawn.
  116.  
  117. Anyone distributing Printit for any kind of remuneration must first contact
  118. Calitz Bros. at the address below for authorization. This authorization will
  119. be automatically granted to shareware distributors, and such distributors
  120. may begin offering Printit immediately (However Calitz Bros. must still be
  121. advised so that the distributor can be kept up-to-date with the latest version
  122. of Printit.).

  124. Printit has a nag screen which displays when Printit is not registered. If not
  125. registered then the not registered message will also print on all reports and
  126. printouts. If registered the message on the reports will be replaced by the
  127. user's own wording or nothing if required.
  128.  
  129. You are encouraged to pass a copy of Printit along to your friends for
  130. evaluation.  Please encourage them to register their copy if they find
  131. that they can use it.

  134. 4. THE ZIP FILES
  135. ----------------
  136. Printit consists of the following files:
  137.  
  138. 1. FRMCP_16.ZIP - The 16-bit components for Delphi 1.x
  139. 2. FRMCP_32.ZIP - The 32-bit components for Delphi 2.x
  140. 3. FRMHLP.ZIP   - The .HLP and .KWF files
  141. 4. FRMEXEC.ZIP  - 16-bit Demo executable (alias DBDEMOS must be defined)
  142. 5. FRMSRC.ZIP   - Source code of the demos
  143. 6. REGISTER.ZIP - Register and Activation programs.

  145. These files must all be extracted into separate directories
  146.  
  147. 5. INSTALLING PRINTIT COMPONENTS
  148. --------------------------------
  149.  
  150. 5.1. Backup the component library file named COMPLIB.DCL in your \DELPHI\BIN
  151. directory.  This will allow you to restore your component library if you
  152. encounter any problems during the installation process.
  153.  
  154. 5.2. Start DELPHI and select Options | Install Components from the menu.
  155. Click on the Add button when the Install Components dialog is displayed.
  156.  
  157.      To install PrintIt,
  158.  
  159.             Click on the Browse button and select the file PRINTIT.PAS
  160.             in the directory where PrintIt  was installed, usually
  161.             C:\Prt\d16 (for Delphi 1.x) or C:\Prt\d32 (for
  162.             Delphi 2.x) development.
  163.  
  164. 5.3. Click on OK to return to the Install Components Dialog Box and click
  165. on OK to accept the changes.  DELPHI will now install the new components.
  166. A new page will be created on the component bar called  Printit that contains
  167. the new components.

  170. 6. INSTALLING THE KEYWORD HELP (To access from Delphi)
  171. ------------------------------------------------------
  172.  
  173. 6.1.    Execute the file  HELPINST.EXE  in the \DELPHI\HELP directory.
  174.  
  175. 6.2.    Select  File | Open  from the menu.
  176.  
  177. 6.3.    Open the file  DELPHI.HDX  in the  \DELPHI\BIN directory.
  178.  
  179. 6.4.    Select  Keywords |Add  Keyword file from the menu.
  180.  
  181. 6.5.    Select the file  PRINTIT.KWF  in the  \Prt\d16 directory
  182. (for Delphi 1.x) or in the \Prt\d32 (for Delphi 2.x) development.

  184. 6.6.    Select  File | Save from the menu.
  185.

  187. Note:  To access help from the demos - Copy the help file named PRINTIT.HLP
  188. in the PrintIt directory to your windows directory.

  191. 7. REMOVING PRINTIT COMPONENTS
  192. ------------------------------
  193.  
  194. 7.1.  Start DELPHI and select Options | Install Components from the menu.
  195. Click on the Printit unit (to remove Printit) and then on the Remove button.
  196.  
  197. 7.2.  Click on OK to remove the components from the component bar.
  198.  
  199. IF YOU ARE USING DELPHI 1.x FOR 16 BIT DEVELOPMENT:
  200. 7.3.    Remove the directory C:\Prt\d16 or the directory where PrintIt was
  201. installed.

  203. 7.4.  Remove the icons and group from the Print Manager screen
  204.

  206.  
  207. IF YOU ARE USING DELPHI 2.x FOR 32 BIT DEVELOPMENT:
  208. 7.3.  Remove the directory C:\Prt\d32 or the directory where PrintIt was
  209. installed.
  210.  
  211. 7.4.  Remove the icons and group from the Print Manager screen
  212.  
  213. 7.5.  Remove the complete directory C:\Prt to remove all trace of PrintIt
  214.

  216. 8. GENERAL INFORMATION
  217. ----------------------
  218.  
  219. Printit sells for $US50 which is not unreasonable, considering that it
  220. consists of more than 120 A4 pages of code which enables you to generate
  221. quality printouts with less than 5 lines of code. See the registration
  222. information on how to register.  We reserve the right to change prices
  223. without notice.

  227. product further. New versions are coming out frequently with bug fixes
  228. and enhancements. Please let us know if  there is any other requirement
