InspectorPC FileRecovery Demo (FRDemo)
ReadMe First
Welcome to the FRDemo. As this is our first opportunity to meet, we
would like to put our best foot forward. The FRDemo is exactly like
its father, FR (FileRecovery). In fact one could look upon FRDemo as
FR Junior in that it has a lot of the personality traits but without
the maturity of achievement.
FRDemo will Not:
* Move your files to a safe place
(We were told not to give the product away)
* Display pertinent information that allows you to locate
your files and then recover them using another tool
(Once again, we were told not to give the product away)
* Load your ASPI drivers for SCSI support. You must have
them in place already with all appropriate config.sys
modifications. The comerical release of FileRecovery
will load the common ASPI drivers.
(We were told to control their distribution)
* Support SCSI controllers that do not have an on-board
BIOS for providing access through the controller to
the SCSI drive
(We were told you had on-board BIOS support)
* Contain a second diskette of utilities: ReNew and
Refresh
(We were told you did not need them yet)
Other than that, you have the look and feel of FileRecovery. We believe
FileRecovery to be the expert in locating and removing your critical
data to a safe place. Consider FileRecovery your data-friendly recovery
plan. Your FileRecovery suite will accomplish all tasks outlined above
and more quite successfully.
We recommend you go through the FRDemo in Beginner mode to familiarize
yourself with the windows and expected responses as well as to introduce
you once again to your keyboard. The mouse is not allowed at our recovery
party. Realistically speaking, it may have been the mouse who landed you
here in the first place.
The first and foremost goal of your mission, should you decide to accept,
is to determine if your data can be located. Pay attention to the color
legend for your filename text. An F1 keystroke during the File Selection
phase of the program will present you with a pop-up window that contains
a color legend reflecting the recovery probabilty of your particular files.
A shift print screen action is required here if you do not want to keep
F1'ing.
Keep in mind most data predators choose to lead your data off the beaten
path before devouring. Along that note, check your 'Lost and Found' and
'NoName' directories for missing files that are no longer linked to their
respective directory or sub-directory.
If you are one of those unenlightened users who stores everything at the
Root level, be prepared and expect the worse. If your Root Directory
fell victim to whatever data attack occurred, then possibly those files
have become victims as well. You just may be surprised though and find
yourself blessed by a 'data angel'.
Most viruses and disk 'repair' programs end with the same results. Your
data map with its key legend is now very different. This means that
directory paths to files will no longer be marked. Any recovery attempt
will not be able to take advantage of that direction as it is now missing.
FileRecovery will not receive any clues from your O/S as to where your data
should be located and wisely does not need any clues. All we can truly rely
on at this point in time, is your files. Quite honestly that is what you are
looking for and we were never ones to look a gift horse in the mouth. You
can re-install applications on your newly formatted or replaced disk drive
after our critical mission is complete.
Beware of the F2 keystroke during file selection, as FileRecovery takes the
command 'Select All' very seriously and will do just that. An F2 keystroke
picks up every hint of data in existence, including and not limited to,
deleted directories and files, corrupted files, viruses, mirrored directories
and files in all their infinite dataness. You will see a file count that
includes all those files as well, which in essence could reflect a disk
capacity like you have never seen your drive profess before.
We have added some warning messages to FRDemo that you will not see in FR.
You will also miss the thrill of restoring your backup savesets with ReNew or
restoring long file names with ReFresh. These programs reside on Disk 2 of
the FileRecovery Suite and are designed to run in a Windows/W95 type
environment from your desktop.
FileRecovery begins its search for your files at the very base level of DOS
in order to eliminate any unnecessary interferences between itself and your
data. On that note, you will need to make your FRDemo bootable. Simple
process that includes going to the DOS level, placing yourself on drive c:
and entering
Sys a:
If your lost data resides on a system that no longer allows you the ability
to make the disk bootable, then you can simply jump on another PC and
perform the task as long as the O/S revision levels are compatible with that
within your damaged PC environment. You can boot from another diskette
but it is better to make your FRDemo disk bootable.
You simply type frdemo at the command prompt after rebooting your PC from
the FRDemo diskette to initialize the FRDemo program.
The most important thing to remember about FileRecovery is it will
Not write in any way, shape, or form to your damaged disk media. You will,
in all likelihood, be prevented from even choosing your damaged disk as a
destination drive if it is recognizably corrupted or suspect.
You can feasibly run FR as many times as your damaged disk will respond.
It is not recommended however to beat that dead horse since most physical
failures can cause the drive to drop dead at any moment. Most logical
failures are a symptom of potential virus infection and should not be
distributed too freely. Typically re-executing a program will cause
another mutation in the virus attack on your system thereby making it
more difficult to locate and isolate.
Once you have located your files and are confident with the degree of
recovery success as indicated by your file listing, feel free to contact
us to expedite your copy of InspectorPC FileRecovery.
The FileRecovery suite cannot be downloaded from the web due to various
limitations. On the one hand we would love to get the product to you as
quickly as possible, yet on the other hand we have commitments that we
must honor. We can express ship the product to you to arrive the next
morning if needed.
The FileRecovery package comes in various licensing flavors in an attempt
to offer data recovery assistance to the broad spectrum of PC users.
Single User License DM 169,00 Registers to your damaged
drive configuration with
drive upgrade capabilities
Unlimited toll-free support
Web based maintenance
releases
Thank You for your interest in InspectorPC FileRecovery. We hope this
FRDemo will provide a very useful tool in determining your data recovery
success in your particular data loss situation and can be of some
assistance in lowering your stress meter at the moment.
Sincerely,
Gernot Adam
