  10. This document provides information about this version of the
  11. Natara Bonsai outline application for the Palm Computing platform.

  27. Natara Bonsai installs in a 30 day evaluation mode.  The
  28. full product feature set is available for your use.  After
  29. 30 days the conduit will no longer synchronize the outlines
  30. until a product registration code is entered.

  37. 2.0  Quick Start Steps
  38. ============================================================

  40. The following steps will get you up and running with 
  41. Natara Bonsai.
  42.  
  43. 1) Open the downloaded Zip file and extract all the files
  44.    into a temporary directory.  Run the setup program from 
  45.    that location.  Or, if you have downloaded the 
  46.    self-extracting Zip file, run that executable and follow
  47.    the instructions.

  49. 2) Run the Natara Bonsai program from the Start menu.  
  50.    The default is location on the start menu is:
  51.      Start->Programs->Natara Software->Bonsai
  52.  
  53. 3) Create an outline and save under the name of your choice.
  54.    
  55. 4) During the save you are asked if you want to synchronize
  56.    this outline.  Respond yes to the prompt.
  57.  
  58. 5) Perform a HotSync.  The Natara Bonsai application is now installed 
  59.    on your handheld.
  60.  
  61. 6) Perform a second HotSync.  Your outline is now installed on your
  62.    handheld and is ready for use. (NOTE: The second HotSync is only 
  63.    necessary after you first install Natara Bonsai. After that, your
  64.    outline database and file will by updated with each normal HotSync.)

  68. 3.0  Uninstalling
  69. ============================================================

  71. Use the Add-Remove Programs control panel document to
  72. uninstall Natara Bonsai from your desktop.
  73.  
  74. On your Palm device, use the Delete menu item under the
  75. App menu to remove Bonsai and all outlines.

  79. 4.0  Product Limitations
  80. ============================================================

  83. 1)  When synchronizing more than one outline file with
  84.     your palmtop device, the file names must be unique within 
  85.     the first 28 characters.
  86.  
  87. 2)  Synchronizing the same outline to multiple Windows machines
  88.     is not supported.
  89.  
  90. 3)  The text for each item in the outline is limited to 140
  91.     characters, and the note with each item to 32K.
  92.  
  93. 4)  Indentation is limited to 10 levels.  Given the limited
  94.     screen space, 10 is past what is usable.
  95.  
  96. 5)  There is a limit of 15 categories within each outline.

  98. 6)  Number of outlines and size are limited by available Palm
  99.     device memory.

  109.   (New)   Rename outline command.
  110.   (New)   Items can be linked to a To Do in the built-in 
  111.           To Do database.
  112.   (New)   Beam an outline  
  113.   (New)   Ability to mark an outline to not synchronize.
  114.   (New)   Command and shortcut to toggle the completion status.
  115.   (New)   On the details dialog, the hard scroll buttons
  116.           change the percent complete.
  117.   (Fixed) When a branch was cut from the outline, there were
  118.           conditions where the branch would be restored during
  119.           synchronization, instead of being deleted from desktop.
  120.   (Fixed) Filter by category would cause an incorrect priority 
  121.           filter to be enabled.
  122.   (Fixed) Problem on Visor Prism where popup menus were corrupted.

  125.   (New)   Export options now also apply to text format.
  126.   (New)   Command and shortcut to toggle the completion status.
  127.   (New)   Directory dialog added for selecting the default
  128.           outline location.  Dialog checks validity of
  129.           directory name.

  131.   (Fixed) Dates were not always localized properly in exports.
  132.   (Fixed) Would crash if the saved currently caret position was
  133.           made invalid by synchronization.
  134.   (Fixed) Context menu would not always set the current item
  135.           type correctly.

  137. Conduit:
  138.   (New)   Conduit skips sync if neither handheld or desktop
  139.           outlines have changed.
  140.   (Fixed) Checks for invalid characters in outline name.
  141.   (Fixed) Checks that the default directory for new outlines is
  142.           still valid.

  144. Import Application:
  145.   (Fixed) Outline names that contained characters that are
  146.           not valid in Bonsai names were not translated.
