  5.      The ARJ archiver, the REARJ program, the ARJSFX module, the ARJSFXJR
  6.      module, the ARJSFXV module, the ARJ$DISP program, the DEARJ program,
  7.      and the associated documentation are copyright (c) 1990-99 ARJ 
  8.      Software, Inc., all rights reserved.  The ARJ software may not be 
  9.      circulated in any incomplete or modified form, nor sold for profit, 
  10.      without written permission of ARJ Software, Inc.  ARJ (tm) is a 
  11.      trademark of ARJ Software, Inc.

  13.      If you distribute this software to others, you are REQUIRED to
  14.      distribute the ENTIRE package in its ARJ-SECURITY envelope.  Because 
  15.      of the requirements of some file distributors, you MAY wrap this 
  16.      ARJ-SECURED package inside another archive such as within a ZIP 
  17.      archive.  However, you may NOT distribute the individual files 
  18.      RE-ARCHIVED.  This requirement is to ensure the integrity of the
  19.      software to the end user.  RE-ARCHIVAL could allow corrupted files
  20.      or viruses to be distributed "in our name".

  22.      You may NOT distribute the registered versions of ARJ.EXE, REARJ.EXE, 
  23.      or DEARJ.EXE except as noted in your ARJ license agreement.

  26.      As a brief description of ARJ, we suggest the following:

  28.      "ARJ (tm) is file archiver that compresses files into a disk space 
  29.      saving archive.  It is fast, reliable, and has a rich set of features 
  30.      which include Windows 95/98 long filename support, file version 
  31.      management, data damage protection, ANSI escape sequence display 
  32.      handler, configurable command options, multiple volume archives 
  33.      (archives that span diskettes) and much more."

  36.      The use and/or sale of ARJ, ARJ$DISP, DEARJ, REARJ, ARJSFX, ARJSFXV, 
  37.      and ARJSFXJR (ARJ package) is subject to the following terms:

  39.  
  40.      ARJ / ARJ32 PRODUCTS:
  41.  
  42.      ARJ and ARJ32 are two different products from ARJ Software, Inc. 
  43.      For licensed use, a separate license is required for each product. 
  44.      ARJ is intended for DOS and Windows 95/98.  ARJ32 is intended for 
  45.      Windows 95/98/NT.
  46.  
  47.  
  48.      PERSONAL USE:
  49.  
  50.      For personal use (at home and non-commercial), ARJ, ARJSFX, ARJSFXV, 
  51.      and ARJSFXJR may be freely used and shared with others.  
  52.      
  53.      There is no REQUIRED registration fee for non-commercial, 
  54.      non-business, non-institutional, non-government personal use.  
  55.      
  56.      Instead, we ask that you share the ARJ software with a friend.
  57.  
  58.      For personal use, the program REARJ may be freely used only by ARJ
  59.      users.  An ARJ user is one who uses ARJ on a regular basis.  Others
  60.      who wish to use REARJ must purchase a registration for the ARJ
  61.      package.
  62.  
  63.      The user who registers receives several benefits:
  64.  
  65.      * Technical support by telephone, fax or mail.  You can get help
  66.        with any questions or problems you encounter in using ARJ.
  67.  
  68.      * A REGISTRATION KEY that provides:
  69.      
  70.        The REGISTERED full version of ARJ.
  71.  
  72.        The REGISTERED full version of REARJ.
  73.  
  74.        The REGISTERED full version of DEARJ.
  75.  
  76.      * Legal use of the software in a business, commercial, institutional,
  77.        and government environment.
  78.      
  79.      * The satisfaction of knowing that you are supporting the development
  80.        of good, affordable software.
  81.  
  82.  
  83.      BULLETIN BOARD SYSTEM (BBS), WEB SITE, AND FTP SITE USE:
  84.  
  85.      ARJ and REARJ may be freely used on commercial and non-commercial
  86.      electronic file distribution sites (computer bulletin board systems,
  87.      WEB sites, FTP sites and so on) for the purpose of distributing *.ARJ
  88.      archive files (not including ARJ self-extracting archives).  The ARJ
  89.      shareware distribution archive (ARJnnn.EXE) may be freely distributed
  90.      by these sites.

  92.      ARJ and REARJ may be freely used on non-commercial electronic file
  93.      distribution sites where ARJ is one of the supported primary archive
  94.      formats.  The use of ARJ and/or REARJ on a BBS where ARJ is not one of
  95.      the supported primary archive formats requires a registration or site
  96.      license.
  97.  
  98.      Support of ARJ involves allowing ARJ archives as uploads AND making
  99.      ARJ archives available as downloads.
  100.  
  101.  
  102.      INSTITUTIONAL/COMMERCIAL INTERNAL USE LICENSE/REGISTRATION:
  103.  
  104.      Any corporation, institution, government agency or business wishing 
  105.      to use the ARJ software in the course of its internal business must
  106.      purchase an ARJ registration or SITE LICENSE. Any individual wishing
  107.      to use the ARJ software within a corporation, institution, government
  108.      agency or business must purchase an ARJ registration or SITE LICENSE.
  109.      The SITE LICENSE is provided for those who want to use ARJ on 
  110.      multiple computers.  A sample INTERNAL USE LICENSE for the internal 
  111.      use of the ARJ software is included at the end of this document. 
  112.      Please see the ORDERFRM.TXT or write for terms.
  113.  
  114.      Any corporation, institution, government agency or business may use
  115.      the unregistered shareware version of ARJ only for evaluation 
  116.      purposes and only for a thirty day period.  After the thirty day 
  117.      period, you must either register ARJ or discontinue its use.  While 
  118.      you are in the process of registering ARJ, you may continue to use 
  119.      the unregistered ARJ program until you receive the registered 
  120.      version.
  121.  
  122.      The INTERNAL use license does NOT license the inclusion of the ARJ
  123.      software with a hardware/software package that is distributed
  124.      EXTERNALLY.
  125.  
  126.      The unlimited SINGLE LOCATION SITE LICENSE permits ARJ internal use
  127.      for an unlimited number of computers/users at one street address. This
  128.      definition of a SINGLE LOCATION SITE is subject to change.  The
  129.      unlimited MULTIPLE LOCATION SITE LICENSE permits ARJ internal use for
  130.      an unlimited number of computers/users at all locations.
  131.  
  132.      Each computer that uses ARJ, DEARJ, ARJSFX, ARJSFXV, or ARJSFXJR in 
  133.      any way requires licensing.  In addition, computers that are being 
  134.      backed up with ARJ via a file server require licensing.  For example, 
  135.      if computer Z's data is copied to a file server and that file server 
  136.      uses ARJ to archive Z's data, then computer Z needs to be licensed 
  137.      for ARJ.
  138.  
  139.      Examples of INTERNAL institutional or commercial use of ARJ:
  140.  
  141.      1)  Using ARJ to backup your business programs and/or data.
  142.      2)  Using ARJ to create archives for storing or transporting business
  143.          data.
  144.      3)  Using ARJ on a company supplied home computer for company
  145.          business.
  146.      4)  Using ARJ to backup your research programs and/or data.
  147.      5)  Using ARJ on your home business computer for business purposes.
  148.  
  149.      Examples of EXTERNAL commercial use of ARJ:
  150.  
  151.      1)  Using ARJ as a included backup program for an accounting package 
  152.          that you sell to customers.
  153.      2)  Using ARJ as a compression and decompression program in a home 
  154.          banking package that you give to your bank customers.
  155.      3)  Using ARJ as a backup program for clients that you support as a
  156.          consultant.
  157.  
  158.      The above examples should NOT be considered the ONLY types of
  159.      institutional or commercial use of ARJ.

  161.  
  162.      DISTRIBUTION LICENSE:
  163.  
  164.      Standard ARJ format archives (*.ARJ) may be distributed without a
  165.      license.  The UNARJ.EXE program distributed separately may be freely
  166.      used and distributed without a license.
  167.  
  168.      Any corporation, institution, government agency or business wishing 
  169.      to include DEARJ, ARJ$DISP, ARJSFX, ARJSFXV, or ARJSFXJR 
  170.      (self-extracting ARJ archives) as an integral part of a software 
  171.      and/or hardware package to be distributed externally must purchase a 
  172.      DISTRIBUTION LICENSE.  The use of ARJ on one computer to build the 
  173.      software and/or hardware package is included in the DISTRIBUTION 
  174.      LICENSE.
  175.  
  176.      The above requirement does NOT apply to those who did NOT initiate
  177.      the inclusion of the ARJ software with the software and/or hardware
  178.      package.
  179.  
  180.      Please write for terms providing your distribution details:
  181.  
  182.      1)  Expected distribution numbers in total.
  183.      2)  The approximate value/price of the package.
  184.      3)  A brief description of the software/hardware.
  185.      4)  A description of how ARJ will be used in the distribution.
  186.          In other words, is the self-extractor being used or is ARJ's
  187.          multiple volume (-v) feature required.
  188.  
  189.      If you wish to use the archiver ARJ or the conversion program REARJ
  190.      in your application software, the pricing is similar to the INTERNAL
  191.      LICENSE price schedule.  Please write for terms.

  194.      SHAREWARE DISTRIBUTION USE BY INDIVIDUALS:
  195.  
  196.      The use of ARJ to create an ARJ format archive (*.ARJ) for the purpose
  197.      of distributing shareware or freeware to computer bulletin board
  198.      systems IS NOT considered commercial use.  However, any other use of
  199.      ARJ in connection with a shareware product is commercial use.  For
  200.      example, using ARJ to backup shareware source code is commercial use.
  201.  
  202.      The inclusion of the ARJSFX/ARJSFXV/ARJSFXJR modules in software to
  203.      create self-extracting ARJ archives that are to be distributed
  204.      requires a distribution license.

  206.  
  207.      RELIGIOUS ORGANIZATIONAL USE:
  208.  
  209.      To obtain the donation of a SITE LICENSE and/or DISTRIBUTION LICENSE,
  210.      please write providing details of your organization's religious and
  211.      charitable activities and the intended use for ARJ.  A free license
  212.      will be provided to qualifying organizations.  Qualifications will be
  213.      determined on a purely subjective basis.  Non-qualifying organizations
  214.      can always obtain licenses by purchase.
  215.  
  216.      Non-religious non-profit organizations promoting causes that do not
  217.      conflict with our personal faith and ethics may also qualify for a
  218.      free license.
  219.  
  220.  
  221.      COMMERCIAL SALE:
  222.  
  223.      Any software dealer or library may distribute the entire ARJ package
  224.      in an unmodified form for a fee as long as the price charged for the
  225.      disk containing ARJ does not exceed US $10.00.  You may NOT distribute
  226.      any version of DEARJ (not the same as UNARJ).
  227.  
  228.      Any software dealer or library may distribute the entire ARJ package
  229.      in an unmodified form when included in a CD-ROM shareware collection.
  230.      Moreover, permission is freely given for the use of the ARJ software
  231.      to view and/or install CD-ROM shareware collections where the entire
  232.      ARJ package is included.  No special license is required nor will a
  233.      special license be granted.
  234.  
  235.      With these exceptions, the sale of ARJ or its parts for profit,
  236.      either alone or together with other software or hardware, requires a
  237.      licensing agreement possibly providing for royalty payments.  Please
  238.      write for terms.

  241.      UPGRADE POLICY FOR ARJ:
  242.  
  243.      Registered/licensed users of ARJ may upgrade ARJ to the next DOT
  244.      release (2.7 to 2.8, etc.) by downloading the new versions from the
  245.      ARJ website.  The registration key for the current release of ARJ 
  246.      will be valid for the next DOT release of ARJ.
  247.      
  248.      Customers who cannot download from the Internet can obtain the 
  249.      upgrade directly from us for a small diskette fee.  See the
  250.      ORDERFRM.TXT for details.  
  251.      
  252.      UNLIMITED SITE LICENSE holders will get unlimited free ARJ upgrades.
  253.  
  254.      This upgrade policy applies ONLY to the ARJ archiver.  It does not
  255.      apply to JAR or to the ARJ32 archiver.

  257.  
  258.      UNARJ SOURCE CODE:
  259.  
  260.      Available in a separately distributed archive is the program UNARJ.EXE
  261.      and its C source code.  UNARJ is a simple ARJ archive extraction
  262.      program.
  263.  
  264.      You may freely use, copy, and distribute UNARJ.EXE, provided that no
  265.      fee is charged for such use, copying or distribution.
  266.  
  267.      This source code is intended to promote the building of utilities to
  268.      support the use of ARJ and ARJ archives.
  269.  
  270.  
  271.      ARJ-SECURITY ENVELOPE USE:
  272.  
  273.      This feature is intended for but not limited to software developers
  274.      who wish to distribute archived software with some assurance that the
  275.      archived software in a validated ARJ-SECURED archive will be secure.
  276.      We reserve the right to limit the distribution of ARJ-SECURITY serial
  277.      codes.

  279.      This feature may ONLY be used by those who have purchased an
  280.      ARJ-SECURITY serial number.

  339.      software as you need for backup purposes.  Distribution, repackaging,
