  5. These service diagnostics operate using  WINDOWS. Do NOT run them 
  6. directly from DOS.
  7.

  9. == INSTALATION PROCESS. ==
  10. ==========================

  12. Installation is  not  automatic (although it will be, for  future 
  13. releases).
  14.  
  15.  (1) Create a directory on the destination drive.
  16.  
  17.   Note: The diagnostics  program does  not place files outside the 
  18.   ----  directory  you  create. Deleting  the directory  after the 
  19.         tests leaves the PC as it was before the tests.
  20.  
  21.  (2) Copy the following files to the directory you created.
  22.  
  23.      bc40rtl.dll
  24.      bwcc.dll
  25.      dj750c.exe
  26.      dj750c.ini 
  27.     
  28.  Note: THE HELP FACILITY IS NOT  INCLUDED YET, so avoid  to  press
  29.  ----  the help button not to obtain an error.

  32.  (3) Drag dj250c.exe from the  File Manager to a Program Group to 
  33. create the icon of the program.
  34.  
  35.  Note: If you use a floppy disk, DO NOT PROTECT it against WRITE. 
  36.  ----  During  the diagnostic  testing, the .ini is modified, and 
  37.        some temporary files are created.

  40. == STARTING THE DIAGNOSTICS. ==

  43.  1- Make sure that the correct serial cable is connected between
  44.     the computer  and  the  plotter (For a 9-pin HP Vectra port,  
  45.     this should be cable with part number 24542G.) 
  46.  
  47.  2- Execute dj750c.exe from the File Manager, or double click on
  48.     the diagnostics icon.
  49.  
  50.  3- Turn on the plotter while pressing the 'Previous' button  on 
  51.     the plotter's front panel.
  52.  
  53.  4- Find out the  serial-port configuration of the plotter. 
  54.  
  55.  5- Click on the CONNECT  button  on  the  main  window  of  the 
  56.     diagnostics.
  57.  
  58.  6- Make sure that the computer serial-port configuration matches 
  59.     the plotter's SetUp.
  60.  
  61.  7- Once connected, perform the individual diagnostics.
  62.  
  63.  Note: The Y-axis  test  is  quite  long  (especially for E-size  
  64.  ----  plotters).  
  65.  
  66.  Note: You need a special  tool to  perform the  Pen Height test.
