  45. This README file contains release notes for the Intel(R) Processor 
  46. Frequency ID Utility v7.0 - Windows* version, describing any 
  47. problems or issues that were known at the time of shipment.

  54. The Intel Processor Frequency ID Utility v7.0 - Windows version 
  55. supports the following Microsoft* operating systems:

  58.    Windows ME (all versions)
  59.    Windows 2000 Professional/Server/Advanced Server (all service
  60.    packs)
  61.    Windows XP Home/Professional (all service packs)

  65. 3.  Release Notes

  68. 3.1 Frequency ID support of Mobile Intel Celeron(R) processors  
  69.  
  70.    Frequency testing and reporting is listed as being supported
  71.    on Mobile Intel Celeron processors beginning with 450MHz.
  72.  
  73.    The Intel Processor Frequency ID Utility v2.5 and later supports 
  74.    frequency testing and reporting for Mobile Celeron processors 
  75.    beginning with processor classification = 0681. 
  76.  
  77.    Frequency testing and reporting of Mobile Celeron processors 
  78.    with any previous processor classification is not supported 
  79.    by this utility, although some of them were manufactured to 
  80.    run as high as 466MHz.

  82. 3.2 L2 Cache size reporting on Mobile Intel Pentium(R) processors
  83.  
  84.    When testing older Mobile Intel Pentium(R) processors 
  85.    (133MHz - 266MHz) with the Intel Processor Frequency ID Utility
  86.    under Windows 2000 or Windows XP, the L2 cache size is not 
  87.    available to the utility and is reported as 'N/A'.
  88.   
  89.    On other supported operating systems, the L2 cache size is 
  90.    reported correctly. 
  91.  
  92. 3.3 Package and logo displayed for Intel Pentium 4 processors
  93.  
  94.    The Intel Processor Frequency ID Utility v3.6 displayed an 
  95.    incorrect package type and logo for Intel Pentium 4 processors
  96.    in the 478-pin package.  Versions later than 3.6 correct this
  97.    issue.

  99. 3.4 Extended test in battery-optimized mode
  100.  
  101.    When running on a system that is in battery-optimized mode, the
  102.    utility may request to run an extended test to determine the 
  103.    frequency.  While this test is running, do not change power
  104.    management settings or plug the system into AC power.  Doing so
  105.    may cause incorrect frequency results in the utility.
  106.  
  107.    On some Mobile Intel Pentium III processor-based systems 
  108.    running Windows 95, 98, or ME operating systems, the extended 
  109.    test in battery-optimized mode will run for up to 15 minutes 
  110.    instead of the expected three minutes.

  112. 3.5 Changes from version 6.5 to 7.0
  113.  
  114.    The Intel Processor Frequency ID Utility v7.0 adds support for 
  115.    Intel Celeron D processors and the latest Intel Pentium M, 
  116.    Intel Pentium 4, Mobile Intel Pentium 4, and Intel Celeron 
  117.    processors.

  119.    The utility now displays the processor number to help identify
  120.    newer Intel processors; see http://www.intel.com for details.
  121.    Also, the utility displays Platform Compatibility Guide 
  122.    information for supporting Intel Pentium 4 processors.
