  19. To view GeoToolsReadMe.TXT on screen in Notepad
  20. or WordPad, maximize the Notepad or WordPad
  21. window.

  23. To print README.TXT in Notepad or WordPad, choose
  24. Print from the File menu.  If you use another
  25. word processor, select the entire document and
  26. format the text in 10-point Courier before
  27. printing to ensure proper spacing.

  35. This README.TXT file covers compatibility
  36. information, late-breaking news, and usage tips
  37. for the GeoTools software.

  39. The following topics are discussed:

  41. 1. Completion of GeoTools Installation
  42. --------------------------------------

  44. GeoTools is now almost installed except for a
  45. small setting that needs to be done under the
  46. AutoCAD Preferences dialog. We chose not to do
  47. this automatically as part of the installation
  48. program to enable you to configure your GeoTools
  49. exactly how you want it as we realize that you
  50. may be running multiple versions and / or multiple
  51. configurations of AutoCAD.
  52.  
  53. In the "Preferences" menu, go to the "Files" tab
  54. and open the "Support files search path". Choose
  55. "Add" and "Browse", then point to the location
  56. where the main GeoTools application files are
  57. located. By defualt, the installation program
  58. would have installed this under the
  59. "C:\Four Dimensions\GeoTools" folder.
  60.  
  61. There are various ways in which you may like to
  62. start your GeoTools program.
  63.  
  64. 1. If you do not already use an ACAD.LSP, you can
  65. use the ACAD.LSP template supplied with GeoTools.
  66. This enables you to load GeoTools automatically
  67. when you start AutoCAD or will prompt you to load
  68. GeoTools with a "Yes/No" option. You can control
  69. this behavior by commenting the appropriate lines
  70. in the ACAD.LSP file as described in the ACAD.LSP
  71. file comments.
  72.  
  73. If the loading was not done automatically upon
  74. AutoCAD startup, GeoTools can either be loaded or
  75. unloaded any time later using the GT_LOAD and
  76. GT_UNLOAD commands respectively.
  77.  
  78. Alternatively, you can load and unload GeoTools
  79. using the "Load" and "UnLoad" options in the
  80. GeoTools menu.

  82. 2. If you already have an ACAD.LSP, you can
  83. either copy the contents of the supplied ACAD.LSP
  84. to merge with your existing ACAD.LSP or you can
  85. load GeoTools separately by first loading the
  86. loader program GT_LOAD.LSP and then using either
  87. the GT_LOAD or GT_UNLOAD commands to either load
  88. or unload GeoTools.

  90. To load GeoTools, browse to the file GT_LOAD.LSP
  91. (you can use the APPLOAD command to do this) and
  92. load it. This loads the GeoTools main executable
  93. GEOT.ARX (for AutoCAD Release 14) and GEOT.VLX
  94. (for AutoCAD 2000) and the GeoTools menu.

  99. GeoTools online help is now accesible from within
  100. the GeoToools menu by clicking on the "Help..."
  101. item. This will bring up the help topics in your
  102. default configured browser.

  104. In case the help file cannot be opened automatically,
  105. please point to the file manual_index.htm and open
  106. it in your browser. This is the starting page of the
  107. help files from which you can navigate to the other
  108. help topics inside your browser.

  141. CD-ROM Versions of GeoTools have the Adobe Acrobat
  142. reader installation file already copied into the
  143. CD-ROM under the filename ar32301.exe. Double
  144. click on this file to install the reader if you do
  145. not already have it.

  147. Users who have downloaded this version from the
  148. web will have to download the Acrobat reader
  149. seperately. It is not included in the web version
  150. of GeoTools.
