Installing HTML Notepad V2.2 for Windows 95
If you are using Windows 3.1 and are reading this you have the wrong version.
Please go and search for htmln295.zip it will definitely be at;
http://www.cranial.com/software/htmlnote
HTML Notepad does not have an install program as this would be larger than
the main code. It is relatively simplistic and does not write files all over
your hard disk. It also does not affect Windows in any way ( by adding info
to the system registry for example). Below are some steps to installing
HTMLn2, making it a Send To.. option in Explorer, making it the default html editor
and removing it.
INSTALLATION
(For downloaded version)
1. Use pkunzip -d to unzip all the files in the directory you would like them
installed ( the -d is necessary as there are some directories which
need to be created.) WinZip can also do this.
(For floppy disk version)
1. Copy all files from the disk into a directory (apart from /software).
2. From Windows 95 go to the Start toolbar and right click on the toolbar
itself. Select the properties section of the Window and then the
Start Menu Programs tabbed control. After this click add and you
will be given a Program Wizard which will allow to you browse for the
executable. Place it in the folder of your choice and select a name.
3. You can also make HTMLn2 a shortcut on the Window by right clicking on
the background and selecting New|Shortcut then follow the instructions
as in 2.
-----
SENDTO
If you would like to run HTML Notepad when you right click on a HTML file.
(Warning this will always give you the DOS 8:3 version of the name. We have no
idea why and would love to hear how to get around this.)
1. Start Explorer. Find the directory underneath windows called SendTo.
(c:\windows\SendTo on most systems)
2. Right click on the file section of Explorer and select New|Shortcut and
then browse for the HTML file executable.
3. Test your setup by right clicking on a HTML file and selecting the
SendTo|HtmlNote option. Nice, huh.
-----
DEFAULT HTML EDITOR
1. From any Explorer window, choose View|Options and then File Types tab.
2. Scroll down the list of registered extensions until you come to HTML Document
(or whatever it's called on your system).
3. Click Edit and then in the dialog that opens up choose the New button.
4. Call the new action Edit. In the next space, type the pathname of HTML Notepad.
5.Click OK until you're out of the boxes.
6. Then go to the folder that contains your HTML files. Right click on
one and choose Edit. HTML Notepad opens up. (If you put a shortcut in the
SendTo folder, you can delete it now.)
Information from Matt Sheffield, thanks Matt...

REMOVING
Removing HTML. This will of course never happen but just in case.
1. Just delete all the files in the directory and also delete any folder or
shortcuts made. You cannot affect Windows by deleting htmln2.
