  8. DESCRIPTION
  9.  
  10.      PSA Cards is an easy to use address program.  It looks
  11.      like a card file and it works like a card file.  Just
  12.      click on a divider tab or card to open or close it.
  13.      
  14.      PSA Cards is also an OLE 2.0 container application.
  15.      This means that you can link or imbed objects
  16.      (pictures, maps, documents, sound and video clips)
  17.      created in other programs in your PSA Cards entries.

  20. PSA Cards existing features:

  22.  *   Print Rolodex cards, envelopes, mailing labels,
  23.      shipping labels and address booklets.  Address books
  24.      can be customized.
  25.  *   POSTNET bar codes
  26.  *    Dial phone numbers, including dialing profiles that 
  27.      account for differences in dialing from different locations,
  28.      and credit card calls.

  120.    INSTALLING FROM A FLOPPY DISK
  121.  
  122.      Run the setup program, setup.exe, from the Program
  123.      Manager, Start menu, or Explorer.
  124.  
  125.    INSTALLING FROM A DOWNLOADED ZIP FILE
  126.  
  127.      1. Extract the program and help files by running
  128.      pkunzip from the command prompt.  The zip file should
  129.      contain these files:
  130.  
  131.        _inst32i.ex_

  133.        _SETUP.DLL
  134.        _SETUP.LIB

  136.        DISK1.ID

  144.      2. Run the setup program, setup.exe.  It is best not to
  145.      install the PSA Cards in the same directory that contains
  146.      the unzipped downloaded files.  You can delete this 
  147.      directory after the installation is finished.  If you 
  148.      do this, be sure to  backup your downloaded ZIP file 
  149.      before deleting it from your hard drive.
  150.  
  151.    LOCKED FILES
  152.  
  153.      If the setup program cannot replace an earlier version
  154.      of a file because it is already in use, restart (reboot)
  155.      you computer after the installation.  When a file can't 
  156.      be replaced because it is locked by another application, 
  157.      the setup program writes a file called wininit.ini in the 
  158.      Windows directory.  This file contains information on how to
  159.      replace files as the system is started.  Windows looks for
  160.      this file on system startup.
  161.  
  162.    IF SETUP.EXE WON'T LOAD
  163.  
  164.      Occasionally, setup.exe will not load.  This usually occurs
  165.      when a previous InstallSHIELD installation has failed and 
  166.      left junk in your C:\TEMP directory.
  167.  
  168.      If this happens to you, use the Explorer to clean out 
  169.      your C:\TEMP directory.  Then try the installation again.  This 
  170.      is a problem with the Stirling Technology InstallSHIELD system.  
  171.      Hopefully they will provide a fix for this soon.
  172.  
  173.      The install program can also be prevented from loading by
  174.      some virus protection programs.  Of course the solution to 
  175.      this problem to turn off your virus protection program while
  176.      you run the installation.
  177.  
  178.    INSTALLING IN AN EXISTING DIRECTORY
  179.  
  180.      When installling in an existing directory and running 
  181.      Windows NT 4.0, you may get a "General file transfer error".
  182.      If this happens, try deleting the directory and then 
  183.      installing.  Be sure to save any data files that you may 
  184.      in the directory before deleting it.
  185.  
  186.    UNINSTALL PROGRAM 
  187.  
  188.      The install program implements an uninstall feature
  189.      that will remove PSA Cards from your system.  To access this 
  190.      program, click on Settings command in the Start Menu, then 
  191.      the Control Panel, and finally double click the Add/Remove 
  192.      Program icon.
  193.  
  194.      In Windows NT, double click the Uninstall icon in the
  195.      PSA Cards program group.  Be sure you want to uninstall
  196.      PSA Cards before doing this.  Once started in Windows NT, 
  197.      the program immediately proceeds to uninstall PSA Cards.
  198.  
  199.      If you have added files to the PSA Cards directory,
  200.      Uninstall will not delete the directory.  Nor will it
  201.      delete data files (other than sample.car) that you have
  202.      created in the PSA Cards directory.
  203.  
  204.    IF YOU ARE CONVERTING FROM PSA CARDS FOR WINDOWS 3.1, READ THIS:
  205.  
  206.      When you install PSA Cards for Windows 3.1 on a computer running
  207.      Windows 95, or when you install Windows 95 over Windows 3.1 with
  208.      PSA Cards already installed, there will be a "PSA Cards" program 
  209.      folder on the Windows 95 Start menu.  When you install PSA Cards
  210.      for Windows 95/NT 4.0 on a computer running Windows 95, a program
  211.      icon named "PSA Cards Win 32" will appear on the Start menu.
  212.      Since the InstallSHIELD Windows 95 installation routine does
  213.      not check for the presence of the old PSA Cards program folder
  214.      from the Windows 3.1 version, you will need to remove it from the
  215.      Start menu manually.  To do this, right click on the Start menu,
  216.      open the Programs folder, find the old PSA Cards program folder,
  217.      and drag it to the Recycle Bin.

  220. LOADING A DATA FILE ON STARTUP
  221.       
  222.      The installation program sets up PSA Cards to automatically 
  223.      open the file "sample.car" each time you select the PSA Cards 
  224.      icon.  If you want to open a different file on program startup 
  225.      in Wndows NT, use the Program manager "Properties" command to 
  226.      change the Command Line entry.  The new data file name replaces 
  227.      "sample.car" after the program name (cards.exe).  Be sure to 
  228.      leave a blank between the program name and the file name. 
  229.      
  230.      If you are running Windows 95:
  231.      1. Right click Start button
  232.      2. Click "Explore"
  233.      3. Click on the "Programs" folder and look for the PSA Cards 
  234.         shortcut in the Contents pane. (click the words "Programs" 
  235.         then look in the right hand window pane)
  236.      4. Right click on PSA Cards shortcut.
  237.      5. Click "Properties"
  238.      6. Click "Shortcut" tab
  239.      7. Change "Target" line sample.car to the desired file.
  240.  
  241.      You can also start PSA Cards from the File Manager or
  242.      Explorer by double clicking (or right click - Open) on
  243.      any PSA Cards data file that has a .car file type.
  244.  
  245.      Another Windows 95 way of starting PSA Cards with a specific 
  246.      data file is to use the right mouse button to drag file's
  247.      icon to the desktop.  Then select "Create Shortcut(s) here"
  248.      when the right mouse button menu is displayed.

  250. REGISTRATION

  252.      Complete registration instructions can be found in 
  253.      the on-line Help.  Go the Help menu, click on Register
  254.      and then click on the Help button in the Registraton 
  255.      dialog box.

  267. KNOWN PROBLEMS RUNNING IN WINDOWS NT 4.0
  268.      
  269.      The Microsoft dialer sometimes fails to start when dialing.
  270.      To work around this problem, manually start the MS dialer 
  271.      from the Start menu | Accessories.
  272.  
  273.      The Microsoft dialer sometimes fails to translate phone 
  274.      numbers to dial strings.  To work around this problem, use 
  275.      the phone number to dial string translation built into 
  276.      PSA Cards.
