  19. This program is both a DIRECTORY COMPARE UTILITY and a FILE COMPARE
  20. UTILITY.  Use it to locate and reconcile differences in directories
  21. and files.

  24. 2. System Requirements
  25. ----------------------
  26. Beyond Compare for Windows95/NT requires Windows 95, Windows NT 3.51,
  27. or Windows NT 4.0.  A 16-bit version is also available for Windows 3.x
  28. (see our web site).

  31. 3. Installation 
  32. ---------------
  33. To keep the download small, this packaging of Beyond Compare does not
  34. use an install program.  The included files (listed below) should be
  35. unzipped into a directory of your choice, for instance C:\BEYOND32.

  41. A desktop icon can be created for BEYOND32.EXE by dragging from the
  42. Windows Explorer.

  45. 4. Upgrading From an Earlier Version
  46. ------------------------------------
  47. You can install this version over an earlier version if you wish.
  48. The program settings (stored in the file BEYOND32.INI in your Windows
  49. directory) are forwards and backwards compatible.

  51. Version 1.5 introduces new toolbar buttons.  They will not appear
  52. automatically if you have previously customized your toolbar.  You can
  53. review or modify your toolbar layout by right-clicking over it.
  54.  
  55. The command line options have changed slightly from version 1.4 and
  56. before.  If you have created shortcuts that launch Beyond Compare
  57. with specific session names, you may have to add quotation marks to
  58. your shortcut targets.  See the "Command Line Parameters" topic in the
  59. help file for the new rules.

  62. 5. Uninstalling
  63. ---------------
  64. To uninstall Beyond Compare delete the above mentioned files, as well
  65. as BEYOND32.INI in your Windows directory.

  69. ---------------
  70. Beyond Compare is shareware, with a price of $30.  You can register
  71. through CompuServe's SWREG (ID# 13019), by credit card through
  72. the Registration Network (www.swregnet.com), or you can register
  73. through the mail.  Complete details are in the help file.
