- What is Capture the Flag?
- =========================
- CTF, or Capture the Flag, is a modification created to make a game's multiplayer
- much more fun, rather than just regular deathmatch as found in most games. CTF is
- centered around team play so people have to work together to win.
-
-
- What do I do?
- =============
- Attack the enemy base, grab their flag, then take it back to your base. In this
- variation you must touch your base flag when carrying the enemy flag in order
- to score - if your flag isn't at your base when you return, you or your team must
- get it back to gain points and captures. To get your flag back, kill the enemy that
- is carrying it, and then touch the flag to return it to base.
- You can not kill your own teammates, even if you try.
-
-
- Quick Start for Dedicated Server
- ================================
- sin +set dedicated 1 +set game ctf +exec sinctf.cfg
-
- Quick Setup
- ===========
- Once you have installed CTF, you will find that you have a directory under your Sin
- directory named 'CTF'.
-
- To run the game, type this at the command prompt:
-
- sin +menu_menu
-
- After the game loads, you can connect to a server with the menus, or through the console.
- I.e. 'connect sinctf.ritual.com'
-
- Important Key Bindings
- ======================
- Bind a key to the 'messagemode2' command, so you can send messages to your teammates.
- Messages with the (username) format are from your teammates.
-
- bind # messagemode2
-
- Bind a key to the 'droptech' command, so you can drop tech powerups as you wish.
-
- bind # droptech
-
- Also bind a key to the 'weaponuse' command, this will allow you to fire the
- thrallball, grenades, and zoom the sniper rifle.
-
- bind # weaponuse
-
- ( where # is the key you want to use )
-
- The Rules
- =========
- When you connect to the server, you will get a choice of which team you want to join.
- If you don't see the choices, press 'TAB' and the menu should appear.
-
- If you want to switch teams later, you can type 'team sintek' or 'team hardcorps' in
- the console to switch teams depending on which team you are currently on.
- This is useful when teams become unbalanced, etc...
-
- When you join, you find that maps have two bases on each end of the map where your team,
- and your foes team, have their flags. These are sometimes heavily guarded therefor
- sieges often occur.
-
- When you pick up the enemy flag, you must go back to your base as quickly as possible,
- but make sure your flag is still there by looking in the Heads Up Display or HUD.
- When the flag is full color, it is at your base. If it is grayed out, the flag has
- been dropped somewhere in the map. If it is missing, then the flag is being carried
- by an enemy. If there is a flashing flag on your HUD, then you are carrying the enemy's
- flag.
-
- When a player carrying the enemy flag touches his flag he completes a successful capture.
- He gets a bonus of 15 points, and everyone on his team gets 10 points.
-
- If you kill an opposing team player who has your flag he drops it, earning yourself 2 points.
- If you touch your flag, it will teleport back to your base. If the enemy flag
- is captured shortly afterward, you will get an assist bonus This gives base defenders
- a reward for guarding their flag.
-
- Since everyone starts at their base after level change or joining the game,
- the team will have to work out who is going to go on offense to try to get the
- enemy flag, and who will play defense by staying at base and guarding their own flag.
-
-
- Runes\Tech\Powerups
- ===================
- - Double Damage - Doubles your damage
- - Regneration - Gain health over time
- - 1/3 Damage Shield - Reduces all damage you take to 1/3
- - Empathy Shield - Damages your attacker as much as it damages you
- - Death Quad - Quadruples your damage, but you lose health over time
-
- To drop a rune, you can type in 'droptech' (without '') and your rune will drop.
- You can also bind a keyboard key, etc. to do this command with the stroke of one finger.
-
- bind # droptech
-
- (where # is whatever key you would like) should do the trick.
-
-
- The Grapple
- ===========
- Included in CTF is a new weapon, the Grapple. This tool is not effective as an
- attack weapon, but is excellent in increasing your mobility. You may use it just
- by using your "use" key
-
- It works like any other weapon--just point and shoot. The difference is, as long as you
- hold the 'use' button down, you will be pulled to the point where the grapple connected to.
- Release the button to let go and disengage from the grapple.
-
-
- The Weapon Changes
- ==================
- The sniper rifle has become much more powerful and you are much more likely to kill
- someone in one shot. The chaingun now has a grenade launcher on it that is activated
- when you press the 'weaponuse' command. You can bind the 'weaponuse' command
- in the player key configuration menu.
-
- The Thrall Ball, from the ThrallMaster in the end of Sin, is being added as the
- alternate fire for the rocket launcher. Activate by pressing the 'weaponuse' button.
-
-
- Other server side cvars
- =======================
- ctf_forcejoin - set this to 1 to force people to join a team when they connect.
- It will pick the team that has the least number of players on it.
