- GENERAL
- INFORMATION: A customer reports that they are using an ALR 486/25 EISA
- machine as a NetWare 386 server under v3.0 Rev. A with 24MB
- of RAM. He is not using either the Compaq executable patch
- or the Register statement in AUTOEXEC.NCF in order to
- recognize his RAM.
-
- The ALR 486/25 EISA has not been certified through the IMSP.
- It has been tested and guaranteed by ALR, however.
-
- When Compaq originally wrote the specification for super
- extended memory in the EISA machines, Novell took that spec.
- and wrote NetWare 386 v3.0 according to it. Later, Compaq
- changed the spec. and Novell implemented the Register
- statement in v3.1 as a fix. Perhaps ALR is following the
- original EISA specification which would explain why you
- wouldn't need to run any patches.
