- PROBLEM: We have a customer running ELS I v2.0A with a file called
- MUSIC.MNU. When he tries to edit this file with EDLIN,
- everything seems to work fine. He can edit and save without
- any problems. The problem arises after he has made changes
- and saved them. He types the file and the changes are not
- there. It only does this on this file name. We have
- renamed it and it works fine. We have edited other files
- and it works fine. We have deleted it and recreated it and
- it still does not recognize the modifications. It does this
- on all his workstations and with different versions of DOS.
-
- SOLUTION: EDLIN creates a backup copy anytime you make changes and if
- this file is flagged SRO, EDLIN will not update your file.
- Instead, it will create a new one containing your changes
- called FILENAME.$$$. So you should flag your files SRW
- before using EDLIN to modify them.
