- GENERAL
- INFORMATION: The auto-register memory above 16MB is not working on the
- Hewlett Packard Vectra 486. It only sees 16MB when there is
- actually 32MB installed. The information for how to see the
- memory above 16MB was provided by Compaq. We were informed
- that it would work on all EISA machines. It works fine on
- Compaqs but not on this machine. Either Hewlett Packard is
- out of spec or the information provided to us really is not
- applicable for all EISA machines.
-
- This was not detected during the system test of v3.10
- because all of the EISA machines that we had with more than
- 16MB were Compaqs and they all worked correctly.
-
- To get around this problem for the time being, you will need
- to place the following command in your AUTOEXEC.NCF file,
- right after the server name and IPX address are assigned:
-
- REGISTER MEMORY 1000000 1000000 (This is for a 32MB Machine)
-
- This will allow the extra memory to be available when the
- volumes are mounted. We will work with H.P. to find out
- what they or we will need to change in order to correct
- this problem. It is possible that EISA machines from
- vendors other than Compaq may have this problem too. If so,
- just use the above work-around.
