- QUESTION : While attending the 1990 Novell Developer's conference,
- I heard about a new feature that will be included in version 3.10 of NetWare
- 386. It is called the "write through" or commit file. Can you tell me more?
-
- ANSWER : The write through feature is an extended file open
- request the means that any writes that occur to that file MUST be written
- immediatly to disk. All cache buffers used for the write are flushed once
- written to. While this feature offers some security for ensuring that writes
- occur, it will slow down the system because none of the caching is used.
