- There are drivers available on Netwire for the DEPCA board from
- DEC. The file is named DEPCA.ZIP in library 17.
-
- A DEPCA board is a NIC offered from DEC as an option for Decnet
- DOS, (3Com boards are also supported). This is DEC's
- connectivity solution for PCs called Personal Computer System
- Architecture (PCSA). PCSA is given away with VMS V5.3 for the
- host support. However, each workstation has to be licensed. Four
- options for the ws are available:
-
- 1) DEPCA -AA $340.
- Board Only
- 2) DEPCA -BA $447.
- Board & 1 PC License
- 3) DEPCA -CA $512.
- Board & 1 PC License
- 1 mouse
- 4) DEPCA -KA $765.
- Board & 1 PC License
- 1 mouse, 1 Keyboard
-
- This card used to be priced starting at $995 but with the increased
- competition with NIC's is now available for $340. So really, it just means
- another NIC that Netware supports.
-
- The key about our driver is that it can co-exist with the DEC drivers.
- This allows access to Decnet DOS and Netware simultaneously.
- In addition for the sites that are migrating to Netware this
- preserves their hardware investment.
