-
- GENERAL
- INFORMATION: Trustee assignments are not stored in the bindery files.
- They are linked to the bindery information but are
- physically stored with the directory entry.
-
- What does this mean? That you cannot do a BINDFIX; copy the
- *.OLD files and take them to another file server and expect
- to get the trustee assignments or any other variation on
- this.
-
- If you want to backup just the binderies and the trustee
- assignments, the best way is with LARCHIVE or NBACKUP or a
- tape drive using the following techniques.
-
- LARCHIVE - Select to INCLUDE all directories and EXCLUDE all
- files. This process is described in Appendix A of the
- "Network Backup" document by the Systems Research Department
- of Novell.
-
- NBACKUP - Selecting "Backup Bindery" does not backup trustee
- assignments! By selecting "Backup File Server" and saying
- yes to "Backup Trustees" and by saying *.* to "Files to
- Exclude", you will get the binderies and the trustee
- assignments.
-
- COMMENTS: When running the 386 UPGRADE utility, customers will flag to
- backup the binderies only. Then they restore the data and
- assume the trustee assignments will all be there which of
- course they are not. They need to upgrade the file server
- directory structure also. The option is called "Transfer
- File Server".
-
- Also TARCHV.ARC in library 6 on NetWire lets you backup and
- restore trustee assignments.
