- Subject: SYSCON Error "Program too big to fit into memory"
- Date: October 2, 1990

-
- PROBLEM: Using the following configuration:
-
- Wang DOS v3.30.10
- Environment space at 400 or 1024
- Loading the Token-Ring .SYS files from the CONFIG.SYS
-
- the customer gets the error "Program to big to fit in
- memory" when loading SYSCON from the A: prompt.
-
- If he goes to a subdirectory on the a drive and types SYSCON
- it comes up just fine. If he changes to the root of A (A:\)
- and types SYSCON, the above error appears. Increasing or
- decreasing the environment space does not help. PCONSOLE
- and other utilities work fine when loading at the root of A.
-
- We tried this with and without the AUTOEXEC.BAT file that
- had the prompt statement and a path statement. There was no
- change. We could not recreate the problem on a workstation
- in the lab.
-
- SOLUTION: We suspect the Wang DOS was causing it. The customer may
- need to try PC DOS.
