  4.                  AST RAMPAGE AT QUICK REFERENCE

  7. To  assist in configuring the RAMpage AT (assembly number 202079-
  8. 301A),  the  following  information has been assembled  for  easy
  9. access:
  10.  
  11. EXPLANATION OF TERMS
  12.  
  13. "Paged memory" or "expanded memory" - This memory is used by your
  14. RAMpage!  board  for specially designed software programs such as
  15. LOTUS 1-2-3.   This memory is not "seen" by your computer, and is
  16. controlled  by  your  RAMpage!  board  and  its  software  driver
  17. "REMM.SYS".
  18.  
  19. When  performing  the "SET-UP" program,  do not include  RAMpage!
  20. "expanded memory" in the "expansion memory" configuration.
  21.  
  22. "Non-paged"  or  "extended memory" - is the Random Access  Memory
  23. (RAM)  that  lies  between  1MEG  and  16MEG  in  the  PC-AT  and
  24. compatibles.   Extended  memory is not "seen" or used by the  DOS
  25. Operating  System  because  PC-DOS and MS-DOS are  only  able  to
  26. access  a  maximum of 640K of RAM.   The  extended  or  non-paged
  27. memory  in your computer is only accessable by DOS by way of such
  28. RAMdisk programs as V-Disk or FastDisk.  When setting up your PC-
  29. AT,  the SET-UP program will ask you how much "expansion  memory"
  30. you  have in your computer.   This "expansion memory" is entended
  31. memory.
