- COMMAND: AUTOEXEC
-
- FUNCTION: Initializes the system at boot up time.
-
- FORMAT: none
-
- TYPE: Special DOS batch file
-
- REMARKS: When DOS is started up, either by pressing Ctrl-Alt-Del or by
- powering up, the command processor searches the root directory of the
- drive it was started from for a file named AUTOEXEC.BAT. If this
- file is found, DOS automatically executes the commands contained
- therein. In that case, DOS does not prompt for entry of the current
- date and time, unless the commands DATE and TIME are included in the
- AUTOEXEC.BAT file. This file, along with the configuration file
- CONFIG.SYS, define any enhancements to the default system.
