  1. GolfTrac v1.5
  2. UPGRADE INSTRUCTIONS

  4. Follow these instructions to upgrade to GolfTrac version 1.5 from
  5. GolfTrac version 1.1a or 1.1b and fully enjoy the benefits of GolfTrac
  6. Assistant.

  9. GolfTrac version 1.5 fixes a couple of Database backup issues.
  10. This revision changes the way GolfTrac opens it's database and the
  11. relationships between GolfTrac and it's databases. After this
  12. upgrade, BOTH GolfTrac databases will be backed up under Palm
  13. Desktop version 1.0 (HotSync 1.0 & 1.1) and under Palm Desktop and
  14. HotSync version 2.0.

  16. These changes are not available for any OEM version of GolfTrac.
  17. (This includes the Sierra, and PalmPilot Plus Pack Version)
  18. Contact Fighter Pilot Software for upgrade information.

  20. You will need to have your registration code handy (the one given
  21. to you with the release of 1.1a or at the time of purchase.) If you
  22. did not save your code, contact Fighter Pilot Software via email:
  23. (Send a note to: ILostMyCode@fps.com ) for a new code. Make
  24. sure you include your HotSync name, including all spaces. CASE is
  25. important. If we don't get your HotSync name right the code will
  26. not work.

  29. FOLLOW THESE INTRUCTIONS TO THE LETTER AND ALL WILL BE WELL.
  30. SKIP A STEP AND NOBODY CAN SAVE YOUR DATA :-(

  32. Note: You may try to install version 1.5 over top of 1.1a or 1.1b ONLY.
  33. It's successful about 60% of the time. It works more often on
  34. the new pilots. If after installing version 1.1b you get a
  35. resource error, you will need to DELETE GolfTrac and reinstall it.
  36. If this is the case, or you want to do it the safe way, follow
  37. these instructions:

  39. The GolfTrac 1.5 package contains 3 applications:
  40.  
  41. GolfTrac.prc "GolfTrac version 1.5"
  42.  - Add-On Apps:
  43. GTAsst16.prc "GolfTrac Assistant version 1.6"
  44. CBuilder.prc "CourseBuilder v1.1b"
  45.  
  46. YOU MUST REPLACE ALL APPS WITH VERSION 1.1b or later for proper operation.

  48. STEP 1 [ Hide the databases ]
  49. Install GolfTrac Assistant FIRST, and only install GolfTrac 
  50. Assistant.

  52. Run GolfTrac Assistant.
  53.  
  54. Tap "Database Magic"
  55.  
  56. Tap "Hide Databases"
  57. This breaks the association between the databases and GolfTrac.
  58. DO NOT run GolfTrac or CourseBuilder while in this state. Bad
  59. things, including data loss can and probably will happen if you
  60. do. (you have been warned).

  63. STEP 2 [ Delete GolfTrac ]
  64. Tap the Applications Button on your pilot.
  65.  
  66. Run the Memory Application.
  67.  
  68. You should see CourseBuilderBK in the list of items. If you do not
  69. see it you didn't do the last step properly.

  71. Delete GolfTrac (it should be about 62-65k).
  72.  
  73. Make sure you ONLY delete GolfTrac, DO NOT delete GolfTracBK or
  74. CourseBuilderBK. They may or may not show up in the list.

  76. STEP 3 [ Install GolfTrac ]
  77. Install GolfTrac version 1.1b and optionaly CourseBuilder version
  78. 1.5 (Do NOT run them yet)

  80. STEP 4 [ Un-Hide databases ]
  81. Install GolfTrac version 1.1b and optionaly CourseBuilder version
  82. 1.5

  84. Run GolfTrac Assistant.

  86. Tap "Database Magic"

  88. Tap "Un-Hide Databases"
  89. This re-associates between the databases to GolfTrac.

  92. STEP 5 [ Run GolfTrac ]
  93. Run GolfTrac and verify that all is well. (It should be). Try to
  94. create a new round of Golf. You will most likey be told that this
  95. version is unregistered. If so, choose "About GolfTrac" from the
  96. menu. (Tap the Menu Button).

  98. From the "About Screen" Tap the "Menu Button" again. Choose
  99. "Enter Activation code" from the menu.

  101. Enter your code and you're ready to go.
