  1. This is a VERY robust version of zoom, which in my opinion EVERYBODY should
  2. use instead of dms:
  3.  
  4. - zoom is shareware but the WHOLE distrib is freely available (dms free version
  5. is a degraded one)
  6.  
  7. - zoom file format is publicly described, allowed one to make unix tools to
  8. check/split files
  9.  
  10. - zoom is faster AND more efficient than dms. takes about 5mn to compress a
  11. disk, and this compresses more than max level of dms which takes 20 to 60
  12. minutes!
  13.  
  14. - dms has bugs:
  15.   - dms can fail on archives passing the dms test check
  16.   - dms will happily compress disks with bad sectors without warnings!
  17.     (major annoyance)
