  5.    Welcome to the IBM Internet Connection for OS/2.  This README
  6.    contains the latest information available.  For an overview of
  7.    this package prior to installation, refer to the BonusPak User's
  8.    Guide.  After installation, you can get an introduction and
  9.    information on how to use these applications by opening the IBM
  10.    Internet Connection for OS/2 folder and clicking on the
  11.    Introduction to the IBM Internet Connection icon.

  14.    If you already have a TCP/IP package
  15.    ------------------------------------

  17.    IBM does not support running TCP/IP applications across both a LAN and
  18.    Internet connection simultaneously.  It is possible to install the IBM
  19.    Internet Connection on top of IBM TCP/IP for OS/2 version 2, if the
  20.    latest CSDs for that product are installed first.  However, when you
  21.    dial into the Internet, your LAN TCP/IP communication will be affected
  22.    in some cases.  (It is restored when you disconnect from the
  23.    Internet.)  A file, WARPTCP.FAQ, is available via anonymous FTP from
  24.    ftp01.ny.us.ibm.net with instructions on how to use the Internet
  25.    connection in combination with IBM TCP/IP version 2.0 for OS/2.

  28.    Modem speed
  29.    -----------

  31.    The modem speed defaults to 9600 for all modems.  If you have a
  32.    14,400 bps (or 14.4K) modem, you will want to specify a speed of
  33.    38400 or 57600.  The maximum data rate that your modem can accept
  34.    is usually documented in the handbook or reference material which
  35.    accompanied your modem.

  38.    Ultimedia Mail/2 'Lite'

  41.    There is a Read Me icon in the UltiMedia Mail/2 'Lite' folder
  42.    under the information icon.  Please refer to it before using
  43.    mail.

  47.    Image and audio support using Gopher
  48.    ------------------------------------

  50.    The Gopher application uses external viewing programs for image
  51.    and audio support.  By default, Gopher will use the viewing
  52.    programs that are part of the Multimedia Viewer package in the
  53.    BonusPak.  Therefore, in order to get image and audio support in
  54.    Gopher you will need to install the Multimedia Viewer package.

  58.    DOS and Windows TCP/IP Programs
  59.    -------------------------------

  61.    You can run Windows Sockets compliant Windows TCP/IP programs
  62.    with this package.  This requires that you have Windows installed
  63.    and that you install the WIN-OS2 support of OS/2.

  67.    Restoring your Internet Connection Desktop
  68.    ------------------------------------------

  70.    In rare instances, you may find that the Internet Connection
  71.    folder or the icons in it, are lost or scrambled.  To recover,
  72.    run the program IFOLDER from the OS/2 command line, and your
  73.    folders and icons will be restored.

  75.    If you find that some icons are still not working as they should,
  76.    delete the Internet Connection folder and all its contents, and
  77.    run IFOLDER one more time; then run:

  79.         MAKEIDX C:\TCPIP\UMAIL\MAILSTOR\xxxxxx xxxxxx

  81.    where xxxxxx is your Internet login ID.  (Note that it appears
  82.    twice.)  If you installed to a directory other than C:\TCPIP, you
  83.    need to change the command above to match.
