- LABEL
- or
- LABEL [d:][label]
-
- This external command will display, change, create, or delete a label on the
- disk in the specified disk drive. FORMAT may also be used to create a label.
-
- d: is the drive letter LABEL will access. If omitted, the default disk drive
- will be used.
-
- label is the label to be written on the disk. It may be up to 11 characters
- long and contains letters and other characters. It should not contain any
- special characters. MYDISK and BACKUP21 are examples.
-
- LABEL will always display the label on the disk, or say that there is none.
- It will then ask for the new label. If you only wished to see what the label
- was, and not change it, simply press the Enter, Return, or <──┘ key. Answer
- the "Delete current volume label (Y/N)?" with n and press the Enter, Return,
- or <──┘ key.
-
- LABEL won't work for disk drives on another computer in a network. LABEL should
- not be used with ASSIGNed, JOINed, or SUBSTed disk drives.
