- 1. Create DOS Partition
- You must select this option when you first set up your hard disk.
- You can also use option 1 to create areas on the hard disk for use by
- other operating systems. After you create a new partition, you must
- use the FORMAT command before the partition can be used by DOS for
- storing files.
-
- 2. Set Active Partition (or possibly Change Active Partition)
- This option allows you to change the disk partition for another
- operating system besides the DOS you are currently using. Once you
- change the active partition, when you "boot" or start your system
- from the hard disk, the operating system in the new active partition
- will start.
-
- 3. Delete DOS Partition
- This option does exactly what is says, it deletes an entire DOS
- partition. Before you select this option, be sure to copy all of the
- files in the partition to another partition or to diskettes, because
- they will be wiped out once you delete the partition.
-
- 4. Display Partition Data
- This option displays information about the partition(s) on your hard
- disk. The information displayed is:
- Partition number
- Status (active or inactive)
- Type of partition (DOS or non-DOS)
- Start and end cylinder numbers
- The partition size in cylinders
-
- 5. Select Next Hard Disk Drive
- You need to select option 5 only if you have more than one hard disk.
- It permits you to set up another hard disk in the same manner as your
- first one.
