- INSTRUCTIONS
- The FLIP BOARD option of the main menu gives you the option of whether to
- start with the white pieces at the bottom of the board or the top.

- The BACKGROUND option provides text on opening theory.
-
- The NOTATION option gives you the possibility of storing your
- own openings.-more

- The RECORD option of the main menu gives you the possibility of storing your
- own openings.-more

- The PLAY option lets you examine different opening lines which are stored in
- the library.

- After PLAY is selected the starting position will appear and you will be given
- the choice of a number of possible continuations. By clicking on one of
- these continuations the game will continue and the move that was picked will
- be played. Only variations currently in the opening library will be displayed
- as choices. By clicking on choices in this manner you can examine different
- opening variations which are stored in the library.

- Brief notes may appear at the bottom of the screen. These may mention the
- name of the variation or something of its nature.

- The move number will be given, in addition to whose move it is.
- (The latter will be shown by the colour of the text).

- When you reach the end of a variation another menu will be shown.
- If you select PLAYBACK you may playback the opening variation
- you have just played over any number of times. This may help you to become
- familiar with a particular opening variation. Note however, the approach of
- memorizing opening moves without understanding them is NOT recommended!

- FLIP BOARD can be used in a similar manner as in the main menu.

- or you may return to the MAIN MENU and select another option from there.
- so that you can examine another variation.

- READ TEXT gives you the option to read any of the textfiles on any of the
- major openings.
