  1.     INSTRUCTIONS
  2. The FLIP BOARD option of the main menu gives you the option of whether to
  3. start with the white pieces at the bottom of the board or the top.
  4.  
  5. The BACKGROUND option provides text on opening theory.
  6.  
  7. The NOTATION option gives you the possibility of storing your
  8. own openings.-more
  9.  
  10. The RECORD option of the main menu gives you the possibility of storing your
  11. own openings.-more
  12.  
  13. The PLAY option lets you examine different opening lines which are stored in
  14. the library.
  15.  
  16. After PLAY is selected the starting position will appear and you will be given
  17. the choice of a number of possible continuations. By clicking on one of
  18. these continuations the game will continue and the move that was picked will
  19. be played. Only variations currently in the opening library will be displayed
  20. as choices. By clicking on choices in this manner you can examine different
  21. opening variations which are stored in the library.

  23. Brief notes may appear at the bottom of the screen. These may mention the
  24. name of the variation or something of its nature.

  26. The move number will be given, in addition to whose move it is.
  27. (The latter will be shown by the colour of the text).
  28.  
  29. When you reach the end of a variation another menu will be shown.
  30. If you select PLAYBACK you may playback the opening variation
  31. you have just played over any number of times. This may help you to become
  32. familiar with a particular opening variation. Note however, the approach of
  33. memorizing opening moves without understanding them is NOT recommended!

  35. FLIP BOARD can be used in a similar manner as in the main menu.

  38. so that you can examine another variation.

  40. READ TEXT gives you the option to read any of the textfiles on any of the
  41. major openings.
