Settings related to the MPEG audio stream.
Change the characteristics of the MPEG audio output.
-[MPEG Settings]
- Stream Type
- One can select between "MPEG-1 Audio Layer I" or "MPEG-1 Audio Layer II". Normally, one wants to select "MPEG-1 Audio Layer II".
Through the "External Tools" one can use other audio formats, such as "MPEG-1 Audio Layer III".
Sampling frequency
- Select the sampling frequency of the MPEG audio. The set value is determined from the source file by default.
Channel Mode
- Select the channel mode to output. The modes are "Stereo", "Joint-Stereo", "Dual Channel" and "Mono."
"Joint-Stereo" combines the left and right channels into one audio track. "Dual Channel" uses
separate audio tracks for each channel. This is particularly applicable to
multilanguage VCDs.
Bitrate
- Select the bitrate. The higher the bitrate, the better the audio resolution, but this improvement comes with a larger file size. Normally, 192kbps is sufficient.
This bitrate, combined with the video bitrate, become the overall bitrate of the movie. If the transfer rate from the media is too close the video bitrate, the audio transfers will be insufficient.
Error Protection
- Add a CRC to the audio stream to ensure data validity. This is usually not enabled.
Original Flag
- Check this to enable the "original" flag in the MPEG audio header.
Copyright flag
- Check this to enable the "copyright" flag in the MPEG audio header.
Private Flag
- Normally, this is not enabled. This can have different effects depending on the decoder.
De-emphasis flag
- Usually set to "None", this filter removes any pre-inserted emphasis on any part of the track.
Use Audio Edit
- Check this box and click the "Setting" button to enable custom track effects, such as fade in.
The "Setting" button opens the [Audio Effect] window.
-[Audio Effect]
"OK" Button
- Close the window and save the new settings.

- Close the window and discard any changes.
