[Manual Variable Bitrate (MVBR)]

Settings for the rate mode "Manual Variable Bitrate (MVBR)" option.

Screen shot

Set the maximum and minimum bitrates to use in the encoding. This affects the "Picture Type Settings" of the [GOP Structure] as well.

-[MPEG Settings], [Video] Tab

Maximum Bitrate
Set the maximum bitrate to use for scene of rapid motion. Use this to restrict the maximum bitrate for slower machines if desired.

Minimum Bitrate
Set the guaranteed minimum bitrate. If this is set too low, it is possible that normal scenes could look blocky.

Enable Padding
If this is enabled, padding (extra data) is added to scenes which would otherwise be below the minimum bitrate. VCDs and DVDs require a minimum bitrate, which is set from the media. It is suggested that this be enabled.

P picture spoilage for partial CQ
One can set the quality to be used for the P picture. This is related to the encoder Constant Quality (CQ) settings of the [Picture Type Settings] window. Valid values are from -100 to 100. A negative value decreases degradation and a positive value increases degradation.

This feature is only available with the newer algorithms.

B picture spoilage for partial CQ
One can set the quality to be used for the B picture. This is related to the encoder Constant Quality (CQ) settings of the [Picture Type Settings] window. Valid values are from -100 to 100. A negative value decreases degradation and a positive value increases degradation.

This feature is only available with the newer algorithms.
