[MPEG Tools] - [Merge & Cut]
Let's one select the range of a merge from [MPEG Tools]'s [Merge & Cut]
function.
In the case that one just wants to edit the play range of one file, this can be done here as well.
Note that the locations where the file can be cut are governed by the films GOP structure, so a film cannot be arbitrarily cut. The "GOP" structure tab of the "MPEG Settings" window contains more information about the GOP structure.
- Filename
- Displays the filename of the current movie. To select a different movie, one must return the "Merge & Cut" window.
- Range
- Displays the starting and end time range. Click the
button to advance one frame. The time range is displayed in
minutes:seconds.
Usually, one will use the time bar and the "{" and "}" buttons to set the range instead of using absolute times, but absolute times can be set by entering them into the start and end time slots.
- Trim Bar

The trim bar is below the preview frame. Use the trim bar to fast forward through the file to the correct position.

Previous Frame Button
- Click to display the previous frame.

Next Frame Button
- Click to display the next frame.
Play
- Play the movie from the present position.
Pause
- Pause a movie during playback.
Starting Position
- Click to select the starting point for the new movie. The movie will start from the selected frame.
(End Position)
- Click to select the ending point for the movie. The movie will be cut up to this frame.
"OK" Button
- Click once the desired start and end points have been selected. These points will be displayed in the "Merge & Cut" window.
"Cancel" Button
- Click to close the window and discard the settings.
