BullGuard - Antivirus - Settings

In this section you can select on-access scan options for BullGuard. This means that each accessed file will be virus scanned.

By checking the "Enable Content scanner" check-box, you activate the BullGuard on-access scanner. This means that BullGuard virus scans all incoming/outgoing e-mails at POP3 level, scans all the files as they are accessed, in order to detect any possible attempt to infect the data stored on your computer. BullGuard offers virus protection no matter what e-mail client you use and without requiring any additional user made configuration. If you want to protect your computer from viruses, select "Enable content scanner".

Tip: To locate viruses on your computer in files that you don't normally access, it is highly recommended that you regularly use BullGuards Scan now module and clean any existing files already infected with virus.


The on-access windows consists of four sections:



You can configure BullGuard to except from scanning some folders. In order to do this, click on the button "Advanced". A window where you can specify the folders will pop up:



To add a folder, click on "Add". An exploring window where you can select the folder will appear.
To delete a folder, select it by clicking on it, and then press the button "Del".

When you finished adding/deleting folders, press "Ok" if you want to save the changes, or on "Cancel" if you want to keep the previous configuration.

You can also specify the maximum length of the files to be scanned on-access. Type the maximum length (in Kb) in the field "Don't scan files greater than (0 means all files will be scanned)". When the length is 0 Kb, all files will be scanned.

In case an infected file is found, a warning message will be displayed, containing the location of the file and the name of the virus. Depending on the selections made by the user regarding to what action to take on the infected files, these will be deleted, cleaned, copied in the quarantine zone or the access will be denied.

Note: In case you want to temporarily stop the virus scan activity unselect the option ôEnable content scannerö.
