This is a guide to setting up the Remote Access Control Panel for connecting
to Madasafish.
The Remote Access Control Panel is a component of Open Transport/PPP. You must
have Open Transport installed to install and configure PPP.
Please note that the Remote Access Control Panel is only used in MacOS 8.5 and higher. Versions of MacOS before 8.5 will use the PPP Control Panel.
To start go to the Apple Menu (top left of screen), select Control Panels then PPP. You should see the screen below.

If your telephone system requires a prefix to get an outside line, please enter
it before the 0845.
Enter an X in the Save Password box to prevent you from re-enting the password
each time you wish to connect.
You will also have to specify your Modem type. Select PPP at the top
of the window then Modem.
The following screen will appear.
In most cases, the modem is connected to the Modem Port.
Consult your modem handbook if the correct manufacturer or model cannot be found
from the list.
Close the window and choose to Save the changes.
Back in the PPP Control Panel, click Options.
You can set up Remote Access to give you reminders whitlst you are connected.
If you select Flash Icon.., the Apple logo up the top left hand side
of the screen will alternate with another logo.
Prompt every 5 minutes will bring up a box every 5 minutes which you
must click OK on to stay connected.
Disconnect if idle for X minutes can disconnect you if nothing happens
for X minutes during your connection.
Under the Protocol tab, ensure the settings are as above.
Click OK to return to the main Remote Access screen.
Click Connect in the Remote Access window and your modem will dial. When connected click on your browser icon to start surfing the web.
