Introduction

The AT&T a2b music Player is a new CD-quality audio product for the PC. In contrast to the CD Player on your PC, which plays music from CDs inserted into your CD-ROM unit, the a2b music Player manages and plays compressed and encrypted a2b music files stored on your disk. This product offers new technology to the music industry, opening your horizons to downloadable music from our a2b music Store World Wide Web site Home Page and enabling you to turn your PC into a true music server.

The key to enabling timely downloading and efficient storage of music on a PC is AT&T's audio compression technology, which reduces the size of an audio file without sacrificing sound quality. AT&T's encryption technology is utilized to ensure the security of your music download. Finally, AT&T's PolicyMaker trust system provides you a unique digital identification and licensing management to protect not only you but also the recording artists.

The a2b music Player provides options which enable you to create customized song playlists, thus creating your own virtual song collection for custom playing. Music downloaded from the a2b music Store, in addition to containing CD-quality compressed audio, also contains text and art which enable the a2b music Player to deliver a rich musical experience on your home or office PC.

Operating the Player

The a2b music Player is operationally much like your PC's CD Player application, Volume Control application, and File Manager application all rolled into one. Play Selection enables you to play through song or a collection of songs in the order you desire from a2b music files chosen with the File Menu Bar tab. You can adjust Volume Control easily within our application; Song Control lets you skip over parts of a song you may not wish to hear.

The a2b music player, in addition to providing CD-quality audio, also provides visual information. In the center of the expanded a2b music Player window you can select one of the Display Setting buttons to see the CD cover, song lyrics, or credits.

Important Note:
The a2b music Player only plays music downloaded from the a2b music Store or other a2b music partners. See the Help section on Downloading Music for more information.

Display Setting

The three green buttons dictate what is shown in the center of the a2b music Player (in the Figure above it is Art). The center area contains the a2b music logo if no song is currently loaded. Otherwise, you can select one of the three buttons:

  • lyrics
  • art

The View Tab affords changes to the Display Settings in a similar manner.

Play Selection

The seven red buttons along the bottom of the Player provide the standard functionality of a tape/CD player for play selection of the loaded song. From left to right they are:

  • Play
  • Pause
  • Stop
  • Previous track
  • Rewind
  • Fast forward
  • Next track

Volume Control

The slider with a red button in the top right hand corner of the Player changes the volume. You can move it up or down to increase/decrease the current volume for your speaker or headset output. You can also click on the speaker icon to mute the volume.

Song Control

The slider along the lower right hand side of the Player governs where you are on the current song track. You can grab it with the mouse and move forward or backward in the song. In addition, the Fast forward and Rewind buttons provide similar functionality.
